Hans of Denmark makes eyeglass frames that pull from the classics of the past. Their "Timeless" Collection is about as in the moment as any frame maker. With three similar frames – available in black, clear, and clear burnt yellow, the "Timeless" Collection comes in either sunglass or clear lens form. As Hans likes to put it, "Classic isn’t boring, but is a factor that can continue to inspire and relive itself over and over."

When first launched Australia’s Colab definitely brought a new element into the sunglass market. Something that we had previously seen on t-shirts and other pieces was now also apparent on sunglasses – artist collaborations. The idea seems rather simple at first, but Colab goes much further than just slapping a logo or a graphic onto the sunglasses, rather creating a complete story and all that in the highest quality one can wish for.

The chosen artists for Season 2 include Australia’s Dmote, Geneviève Gauckler from France, Josh Petherick, Marok and Tonite/Fergadelic.

Each style has been designed, created and manufactured under the watchful eye of these artists ensuring there is no compromise in the development process. The new collection will be in stores sometime in September. From Colette in Paris to United Arrows in Japan, you can expect the line to pop up in pretty much every storethat is at the fore front of fashion and style. Sounds cheezy, but it’s true!

Our very good friends at ACL picked up on an interesting new online shop concept from 29 year old designer Erik Schedin. "If you were to start an online store, what would you sell? How about a pair of beautiful leather white-on-white sneakers for $245 (available only in the designers shoe size of 44), American Optical plastic and metal framed  eyeglasses for $164 and a bottle of Pledge furniture wax. That is exactly what Sweden based designer Erik Schedin has just launched, and somehow, strangely, it works…"

Give it to Morgenthal Frederics for trying something out of the ordinary in terms of materials for eyeglass frames. As Men.style’s Elizabeth Toal reports, "The latest offerings from Morgenthal Frederics are made from actual buffalo horn—the first time a brand has put out an entire line using the paper-thin material. (We know what you’re thinking: finally.) Each frame is one of a kind.."

You’ll pay hefty for these one of kind bottlecaps so be sure to avoid playing basketball in them or even face slamming when going in for that first big kiss.

With the middle of the summer having arguably pasted, we figured we would take time to reflect on some looks we have much enjoyed. This pair of Tom Ford Jason glasses is up there. The NDG-1 frame comes in matte black and is part of a limited release for Fall/Winter 2008. As part of their Lee Cooper 100 project, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the denim brand, they have collaborated with high end eyewear brand Alain Mikli.

With a passion for innovation, Lee Cooper and Alain Mikli produce eyewear like no other.  Working from his lab in Paris, Alain revived his original 70s model. He proceeded to take apart a pair of 5 pocket Lee Cooper jeans to see what the core ingredients were. Denim aside, he focused on the zip and rivets. Lee Cooper jeans were then infused onto the frame – the first time this has ever been done.

Happy with the frame, Mikli moved onto the lens. Through sheer experimentation, Mikli devised a lens that includes a Lee Cooper zip, with the zipper teeth also carved in – pure imagination and completely conceptual. To match these hand made glasses, Alain designed a case from a Lee Cooper jean with the glasses fitting snuggly inside. What you see is innovation. A complex procedure crafted by a design genius.

At first you think somebody knows how to use Photoshop, but once you realize that its all reality, it is definitely very impressive. Alain Mikli also designed Kanye West’s Shutter Shades, that were reported about in all media and this new Lee Cooper collaboration once again confirms his innovative nature.

Over on the R29 Pipeline, Piera Gelardi profiles some eight sets of clear shades that are sure to highlight your attire under the sun. "All of a sudden we’re spotting see-through specs everywhere. Coincidence? Perhaps—but unlikely. What caught our attention this time wasn’t just crystal-clear style, but translucent shades of cornflower blue, lavender, yellow, and amber."
