A great series from Jake Davis working alongside K Swiss. 4 videos giving us a peek into the world of well turned out characters with a real passion for their chosen business. Here we take a look at Tokyo’s  Globe Specs, established in 1998, a beautifully designed store run by Tetsuya Okada. Having worked in the eyewear business for years he decided to set up on his own, looking for unusual brands to offer something that little bit different to his customers. Cutler & Gross is tapped once again by the House of Margiela to co-create their 2012 sunglasses collection – clearly their earlier collection did them right. A bunch of great reinterpretations of classic “found” frames in the offering including acetate plays on the aviator frame, spectacle-lover shades, and more. Available from Eyegoodies.

Oliver Peoples not only relaunch their website, but for the occasion also presents their next short film for their Spring 2012 Collection. The LA eyewear brand continues to work with photographer and director Lisa Eisner on their moving picture projects. This season they recruited actors Dakota Johnson and Thomas McDonell for the short film, which once again has a fantastic mood and attitude.

Very French Gangsters’ photo campaign to bring awareness to their new collection of eyewear for children ages three to ten is excellent. Cute is probably the better word but we’ll avoid in light of the rough side shots. The eyewear itself looks great on the kids. Parents of Lilsnobs will certainly find strong options from this new start-up. Absolutely wonderful gifts for the little people in your lives.

MOSCOT’s new Sun Collection is a bold take on classic frames from the archive ranging from the 1970’s through the 1990’s. While some looks do seem to have an expiration date, others in the collection will work for the gents, but better for the women. This is the second SUN Collection which features the Adrienne, Cameron, Cassius, Emerson, and Isobel looks.

A big standout from Italy’s SUPER line: their new Optical eyeglass collection is a strong mix of classic SUPEr frames with many new takes on the sunglass looks. These are Rx/prescription ready and available in true black, light and dark havana (a golden brown). This writer is highly excited to see the Ciccio now available in the all black version. Those looking for a unique eyeglass upgrade should spend some time exploring these looks. Made in Italy. #fans

Oklahoma’s Color Me Badd made the oval sunglass famous back in the 1990’s and in 2012 they’re back with a strong arm ready to re-take their crown as the eyewear of choice. The special edition collection of DITA eyewear, worked over by the hands of Thom Browne features a slew of oval sunglasses alongside various other shapes. Clip-ons play a strong role as well. The DITA x Thom Browne collection is massive; more than 60 combinations make up the looks.
