Flo Scandinavia delivers a new eyeglass and sunglass frames for Spring Summer. The frames, for Cheap Monday, get a “Crude” treatment to give some texture to the models – 17 in all. Coming soon, a joint optical effort between Kaneko and Silas. The Japanese eyewear manufacturer has been going strong since 1958, with new life breathed into the brand via some choice collaborations with the likes of Porter, SOPH, Nonnative and Uniform Experiment.

Thought we’d get into a little eccentric eyewear for Thursday lunchtime. Nothing says ‘I’m a creative and interesting person with a wide selection of books and statement furniture’ like a pair of big old glasses. These are from the excellent Anglo American Optical, a British eyewear company producing some incredible handmade spectacles. The tortoiseshell makes these, also available in ‘Demi Blond’ and ‘Demi Blond extra’. Find them here.

Garage, the Center for Contemporary Culture and magazine gets in a little collaborative work with the Illesteva sunglass line. Portions of the proceeds go to a worthy cause: Restoring Vision, which since 2003 has supplied glasses to over 1.3 million people in need. The frames are available in two colorways: tortoise and light tortoise with a retail price of $295.

“Memory of a cool attitude and the warming sun” in the mood set for the Spring/Summer 2012 collection from Kris van Assche. Spring for van Assche, as it is for many others, focuses on a relaxed flavor; we clearly need it after 2011.

We look specifically at the sunglass collection from Kris van Assche. The frames, with their bluish soldering stains, are a forward move away from the classic aviator. A little risk looks to be the order and we applaud it.

They may not be as unisex as one would expect but it is nice to see that the Moncler line is taking their sunglass line with MYKITA in a direction that brings the high quality frames to the forefront of the line. This run of sunglasses is available now at select Moncler and MYKITA shops. Runs a pretty penny though: $730 a pair. Woah.

Oliver Peoples whips up a dosing of new eyewear for The Soloist. The Takahiro Miyashita collection of eyeglasses and sunglasses will appeal to most. What will not is the difficulty in getting your hands on them: they are a hard find outside of Asia.

One for our ocularly challenged brethren out there. If your eyesight isn’t up to scratch and your glasses very much prescription rather than unnecessary stylistic flourish, we feel your pain. Luckily, being far or near sighted means you get to don some smart frames and imagine you’re Bruce Boyer or Gandhi. The Sheldrake is inspired by another legendary spectacle wearer (and hair genius) Andy Warhol.
