Here are some early looks at the forthcoming  John Varvatos USA Accessories collection for Autumn 2010 which was designed in collaboration with the Cipriani Accessories house (who in the past has worked with Lacoste and Calvin Klein). “In keeping with Varvatos’ signature approach to textiles and materials, all the fabrics and hardware for the  USA accessories are developed exclusively for the label. There are five groups, including caribou leather; antique calf; pebble grain; canvas; and a nylon/leather group…”  You’ll find keychains, bags, belts, and a variety of other leather goods in this Varvartos collection, processed with that Varvartos feel.

My favorite description of the collection comes in their designation “irreverent  USA motifs: a skull, a guitar, a marijuana leaf”  which will be silkscreened onto the nylon/leather group. How damn American of them.

Lavenham offers up a preview of their forthcoming Lavenham Autumn/Winter 2010 collection. “Lavenham is an English manufacturer of superior quality country clothing and horse rugs. The brand was founded in 1969 and made the first nylon quilted horse rug, closely followed by matching jackets and waistcoats for the rider. Today, people are still charmed by the brand for pretty much the same reasons as 40 years ago. We missed this one before Christmas but it is worth mentioning. WWD reported back on Dec21 that “Vivienne Westwood is set to give denim a touch of her punky aesthetic. The designer has collaborated with Lee Jeans to launch a denim collection as part of her Anglomania label, called The Vivienne Westwood Anglomania and Lee collection. The debut collection for fall [2010/11] will launch to buyers next month.”

It will indeed be interesting to see what comes from this working. It is mentioned that the styles will include, “bondage jeans and skinny jeans for men. Washes will run from indigo denim to metallic gold- and copper-colored denim…” Hell, we’re up for anything. It’s a new decade of course.

WWD is reporting this morning that John Galliano plans to launch a “diffusion” line this coming Autumn. “Galliano is the diffusion label of John Galliano, the designer collection known for its theatricality and couturelike craft. The John Galliano line always includes distinctive and wearable outerwear, tailoring and underwear, but overall, it appears ripe for broader interpretation by the contemporary sportswear market.”
