Cable knits and pretty patterns are the order of knitwear for Farah Vintage this Autumn. They’ve come with a decidedly 80s styling… slightly over-sized heavy weight lambswool cardigans and jumpers. Highlights include “the Coppard”, a chunky cardigan shown above, and “the Wilding” which is a Fairisle knit jumper with snowflake patterns.

The pieces are all hand knitted.

Continuing with our unnatural obsession with details, here’s a piece we’re picking solely because of the colour of the toggles. We’re accustomed to seeing beige toggles on navy duffels, so it’s a nice departure to see some burgundy ones. And that’s the entire reason we like this piece. Never let it be said that we’re not deep. (ASOS)

Gavin Watson, famous for his view of the “social unrest” in the 80’s England, shoots the Autumn/Winter 2010 lookbook for Farah Vintage. “This season the focus is on the iconic 80’s – a decade of social unrest, a time when the people needed to be heard, and a young generation dressed as a means of self-expression. A roomier silhouette has been adopted on shirts and jackets, while polos are tailored to the level of shirting to ensure the wearer knows he’s bought something special.”

Haven’t gotten formal in a pair of shorts since prep school. But, beginning to think this is the summer my tattooed legs play a role in weddings and ocean side cocktail parties. Short suits aren’t limited in variety this season either. One option comes from Farah Vintage, pairing a slim single button blazer with flat front shorts.

Takes a certain tongue-in-cheek sartorial bend to pull of the look, but as long as Bermuda length socks are avoided it has some potential.
