Sibling Breton Jumper

09 February 2010, 16.30 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

selectism - sibling-breton-jumper

This is what they call a marmite piece. We’re sure the style bloggers will deride this as an unnecessary update, whilst the fashion bloggers will see it as welcome twist. Although we’re habitual line-straddlers when it comes to fashion and style, we do have to side with the fashion bloggers on this one. Why? Because a twist done well is always welcome. (Daniel Jenkins)

Take that leap to see the red colourway (we prefer the blue, since you asked).

selectism - Selectism Q&A | Rogue Territory

Karl Thoennesson loves denim. His passion, or perhaps obsession, led to the founding of Rogue Territory. The brand stems from three core values – use high quality fabrics, adhere to the highest standards of manufacture, and share knowledge of denim with customers.

Thoennesson, at just 27, has fully immersed himself in denim since his arrival in Los Angeles a few short years ago. What began as a fully custom opperation has blossomed into the ready-to-wear collection that is Rogue Territory. We caught up with him to pick his brain about the transition from denim fan to denim maker.

Our Q&A after the jump.

Patrik Ervell American Trench Coat

selectism - patrik-ervell-american-trench-coat-01

You know what we’re fans of? sales, Patrik Ervell, coats (and, apparently, rhetorical questions). So add the three together and you have a piece that was destined for SL. The ribbed collar is great for collar popping – something we partake in whenever possible – and the cropped length makes it less stuffy than longer overcoats. The $332 (down from $1,105) price tag doesn’t hurt either. (Opening Ceremony)

Take a leap for detailed images of the coat.

Selectism - J.Lindeberg Autumn/Winter 2010 "The True North"

J.Lindeberg’s Autumn/Winter 2010 mainline for men, titled, “The True North,” puts focus on the combination of technical advancements while respecting the “old traditions.” “The utility and function found in work wear has emerged and evolved through generations of the army, the navy, hunters and farmers. Heralding back to a time where clothes were long lasting and crafted with a mission for survival. J.Lindeberg continues their endeavour in redefining modern classics with a Scandinavian point of view…”

The utility and function found in work wear has emerged and evolved through generations of the army, the navy, hunters and farmers. Heralding back to a time where clothes were long lasting and crafted with a mission for survival.
J.Lindeberg continues their endeavour in redefining modern classics with a Scandinavian point of view, whilst respecting old traditions and combining them with the technical advancements of today.

Selectism - Tom Ford Spring 2010 Looks

The Fashionisto offers their take on Tom Ford’s Spring 2010 collection for men. “Nicholas Hoult may be Tom Ford’s leading man when it comes to his eyewear campaign this season, but the designer does not break with tradition in regards to spring’s lookbook. Enlisting Jon Kortajarena once more, Ford turns out his signature suit in a vast array of colors and prints, even going as far as to add a casual resort element for difference.”

Hope ‘Clive’ Dirty Red Shirt

08 February 2010, 16.30 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

selectism - hope-dirty-red-shirt-01

When is a pink shirt not  a pink shirt? When it’s ‘dirty red’. Despite all the inroads mens’ fashion has made, there’s still a certain camp out there that insist on calling pink anything but pink. It’s 2010 people, there’s no need to be ashamed of the colour anymore. The shirt itself is a handsome one. It’s not a ‘wow’ piece, but it’s a purchase you’ll still be wearing for years to come – something that can’t be said for most fashion forward creations. (Tres Bien)

Meg Company: Monitaly Spring/Summer 2010

08 February 2010, 15.45 | Posted in Fashion | 1 comment »

selectism - Meg Company: Monitaly Spring/Summer 2010

Meg Company was founded in 1989 in Hermosa Beach, CA. Some of the brands lines are well known (particularly the Yuketan Shoe line), while others are less heralded (to this point).

Garbstore has received some spring/summer items from Monitaly, Meg Company’s rugged outdoor division. The pieces are in keeping with trend (heritage, Americana, etc, etc), but exhibited a more varied base of inspiration. The line started life in 1997, its name tying in a few things the designer really likes.

Above, you’ll see the Camp Shirt. Drawing from the traditional boy scouts shirt, this top was made using a triple needle union special machine… and has details fitted for carrying all sorts of boy scout stuff (scarf, compass, trail mix). Pictured after the jump, the Indigo Denim Raw shirt will age with love and washing. It too is made with a triple needle union special machine.

I’ve also pictured a gray t-shirt because, well, a good gray t-shirt is the fucking business.
