We’ve been seeing a lot of Utile later, but not much about the folks behind the time. We managed to snag a look at their studio to see how they work, what they’re working on and perv over some handsome furniture. We’ve even managed to get a shot of one of the founders who we’d call elusive if we were a tabloid newspaper.

Here’s a video from the Monsieur Lacenaire folks. Before anyone asks, yes – this is how we settle all disputes at Selectism.

Is it just us or are the sales beginning much earlier this year? Most of them started up in late november instead of the usual January sale. Maybe they’re getting a jump on those folks who avoid pulling the trigger finger in december. Maybe the sheer amount of stores selling the same or very similar goods has gotten to be too much to the consumer. Whatever the reason you can find this Stephan Schneider at a knocked off price, which is a good thing. The fact that you can buy it from the store which was mentioned in “How to Make it in America” is an added bonus. South Willard has it.

You might want to get your hands on Marni now. In a few months time you’ll be able to say, ‘I liked Marni before they collab’ed with H&M’. You can also say you’re not into polyblends, which the H&M collaboration will almost certainly consist of.

Anyway, true gentleman don’t queue overnight for clothes – a made up gentleman’s rule, but it’ll probably make its way into one of those lists. Mr Porter has them.

We’re were going to make a melange/Solange Knowles wordplay joke but we feel it’d be too obscure even for our rather obscure tastes. You’ll have to make do with this lovely jumper, which is more than enough to make up for one aborted joke. You’ll have to buy it yourself though, we’re not that generous – even on thanksgiving. Not got enough digital camo in your life? Of course you haven’t. Which is why we’re recommending this jumper. Ideally we’d wear it to battle and impress our fellow soldiers with our next level camouflage. Failing that, we’ll wear it to work and hope someone notices how great our jumper is. We don’t blame you if you’re not into down shirts. They can be a bit fiddily, leading most people to use those dreaded words ‘hard to pull off’. But don’t fear, it’s not that difficult to wear. Just do what we do – get them a size too big and wear it as a jacket. (Garbstore)

Paul Barbera’s ‘Where They Create‘ takes a look at studios and offices of the creative, this time stopping off in the Acne Stockholm studio. Their showroom used to be  a grand ballroom in the old banking days and it’s quite the sight. Looks like a great place to work/accidentally leave with a bunch of samples.
