Vienna’s Albertina Palais Museum hosts Cars an exhibition of works from the Daimler Collection through May 16, 2010. Included are many works by Andy Warhol – for instance Karl Benz and his Sales Associate, shown above – along with car related art from Robert Longo, Sylvie Fury and Vincent Szarek. The assembled pieces cover iconic automobiles and a sexy set of legs.

For the Yves Saint Laurent Fall/Winter 2010/11 Collection, Bruce Weber has produced a short film, entitled “Ain’t Nothing Like The Real Thing”. Check it out here above!

By this time we’ve all seen the trailer for Tom Ford’s A Single Man (check it here if you have not). A fan of the film, Mr. Ford, and design, decided to give the poster art a second glance. As ck/ck tells us, “Whenever I’m feeling uninspired I like to make movie posters to get my creative juices going again. It always works.” It sure does. (ianc)

NYT “The Moment” blog gets their hands on one of the two videos shown by Tim Hamilton during his fashion week party recently. “The short film …  featured music by Björn Yttling (of Peter Bjorn and John) and John Hill (Santogold’s producer), and was projected on big screens at a party where everyone milled around slinging back a few Stellas.” The second movie “Rope” will hopefully be available soon. Frillr discusses a new project from the multi-talented Hedi Slimane. “French production/distribution company MK2 asked Hedi Slimane to curate and art direct a box set of his favorite films. The American Youth boxset will present the following films along with a new set of Slimane photographs. Rebel Without a Cause; Who’s That Knocking at My Door; Woodstock; Zabriskie Point; Permanent Vacation; Rumble Fish; Last Days / Mala Noche; Boys Don’t Cry; Mysterious Skin; Wassup Rockers. The boxset will be released in November.”

This summer and into early fall, Moore College of Art hosts Bicycle: people + ideas in motion. Through a series of exhibitions, events, and films the school explores the art and design of the bicycle. Local legends Bilenky Cycle Works are well represented and “Bicycle Design’s Commuter Bike for the Masses Competition” reveals some excellent answers to the questions “just how do we get more people on bikes?” The events have started and will roll on until October 13, 2009.

If you’ve not yet had the time to watch Wallpaper*s first commissioned video in it’s quest for new film talent, don’t miss out any longer. Produced by David Usui and filmed Ben Wu, The Highline, New York introduces a gem of the City, and offers a brief and engaging account of its return to public use.

Following on The Design Hotels book, Gestalten has worked to produce a series of short films. These are framed as the Made By Originals series. Each short gives a little insight into the people behind the hotels. They offer thoughts on design choices and more. Check out the films here.
