Florsheim by Duckie Brown for Spring/Summer 2012

Florsheim by Duckie Brown for Spring/Summer 2012

Our friends at WATM bring us exceptional looks at one of more exciting collections in footwear for Spring/Summer 2012. The Florsheim by Duckie Brown collection delivers colors, and texture that is sure to excite the masses. I will argue this is their best collection to date.  The woven idlers and mocassins win across the board. Two-tone saddle shoes may be more of your flavor. Well worth a sneek.

Florsheim by Duckie Brown Shoes

Selectism - florsheim-duckie-brown-shoes-01

While the Duckie Brown mainline is usually a couple of steps too far for the sane man’s wardrobe, their Florsheim made footwear hits the sweet spot. We’ve got a fondness for a derby, they’re cleaner than a brogue and not as fussy as a monkstrap so you can dress it up or down. We’re all about that versatility. (Asos)

Florsheim by Duckie Brown Corduroy Shoes

Selectism - florsheim-duckie-brown-corduroy-shoe-01Duckie Brown’s footwear has been doing well for a few seasons now and shoes like this are a good reason why. We’ve never really desired a  corduroy shoe before (on paper it sounds like a 70’s influenced nightmare) but this one looks handsome. It’s time like this we wish there was a one word phrase coined by a former TV show actor that’s gone all kerrazy. Shame there isn’t. (Forward)

Florsheim by Duckie Brown and Florsheim Limited Accessories

Some seasonal accessories can be found at the Florsheim pop-up shop at 109 Mercer Street in NYC. Odin New York co-owners Paul Birardi and Eddy Chai gave a hand in working over their cashmere scarf and hat for the shop as well as some fine socks. If you’re looking for some stocking stuffers, these may be for you.

Florsheim by Duckie Brown for Brooks Brothers

Selectism - Florsheim by Duckie Brown for Brooks Brothers

Esquire gives some love to a “meta” collaboration between the Florsheim by Duckie Brown collection and Brooks Brothers. It looks as though Brooks Brothers will be stocking some exclusive leather variants in wingtip form. “Built on the same last as the regular Florsheim by Duckies, the one on the left is shell cordovan in a handsome caramel and the one on the right are a light deerskin.” Nicely done for Spring 2011.

Selectism - Florsheim for Spring 2011

Two looks form the Spring 2011 collection of footwear from Florsheim. The oxford above shines in a great suede finish with a hint of light red on the upper. We’re clearly seeing a move into more bright colors (rather than pastels). Expect more of this from others in the Spring. As seen at COMPASS Show.

Florsheim by Duckie Brown Autumn 2010

Selectism - Florsheim by Duckie Brown Autumn 2010

Here’s a full look at the new Autumn 2010 collection from Florsheim by Duckie Brown. “The inspiration for the new line continues to come from the Florsheim archives. Daniel Silver and Steven Cox of Duckie Brown have infused deep, jewel-tone colors into these classic styles for a unique take on the men’s footwear market. Raisin, Cherry, Coal, and Dark Green are the feature colors for the Fall 2010 line. The classic Brogue pattern has matching upper and sole edge color treatments to make a truly unique product. Monochromatic shades of Cherry, Navy, and Dark Green juxtaposed to the traditional Brown and Black colors round out the package for the new line.”

Selectism - Compass NY | Florsheim by Duckie Brown Autumn 2010

The Duckie Brown and Florsheim relationship remains strong for Autumn 2010. We have a few looks from the forthcoming collection as seen at Compass NY last week. A favorite is the green brogue boot (shown above). Slight imperfections in the boot give it a not so new look which may be desired by some. Check the blue suede lace up as well in the gallery.  (photography: Jacob Krupnick)

Florsheim for Duckie Brown Brogue Boots

selectism - florsheim-duckie-brown-brogue-boot-01

While we like a good ol’ workwear-esque boot, sometimes we need something just a little sleeker. Something you could conceivably wear with trousers (proper trousers, not chinos). Something like this brogue boot. The best thing about this boot – aside from the English brogue-ing – is the height. The cropped height makes it easier to get on than traditional brogue boots and better suited to rolled up trousers – just remember to scuff the soles before you take them anywhere.  (Forward)

Florsheim by Duckie Brown Spring/Summer 2010

selectism - florsheim-by-duckie-brown-spring-2010-01Duckie Brown’s interpretation of Florsheim’s shoes was a runaway success when they launched, so it’s no surprise that they’ve continued that great work with their SS10 collection. While these yellow brogues may be too much for the colour-phobic, they’re a perfect example of why the collaboration was a needed one. They incorporate the American style of brogue-ing with full grain leather and a leather welt – and they’re also yellow, which, admittedly, is quite the focal point. Elsewhere in the collection there’s also suede lace up shoes, loafers, saddle shoes and laceless brogues.

Take a look at the collection after the leap.
