Martin Margiela Footwear for Autumn/Winter 2012

Trolling over on Por Vocacao, we discover images of footwear coming from the Margiela line for Autumn Winter 2012. Some interesting specimens in the collection including a series of all-rubber shoes (desert boot and all) which we will need to hold in hand to experience. The snakeskins look proper and we’re excited to see the “return” of the splatter paints. Much more in our gallery.

nonnative Spring/Summer 2012 Footwear

Nonnative Spring Summer 2012 Footwear Collection 08 540x388 nonnative Spring/Summer 2012 Footwear

nonnative offers some interesting footwear for Spring/Summer. Shoe Buff tells us “The brand brings ten new models in which six of them come with a Gore-Tex interior in collaboration with Regal ; Dweller Shoes Wing-Tip, Deck Shoe, Loafer, Plain Toe and Cap Toe.”

The more beach friendly espadrilles might win round those who still find this particular style of shoe objectionable, the slightly wider fit make them appear more moccasin like, espcially invarious shades of suede. A nice selection ranging from smart to run-around.

Common Project Spring Summer 2012 Footwear Sneakers 01 Common Projects Footwear Spring 2012 Preview

Highsnob gets the scoop on Common Project’s Spring 2012 looks. “A very solid Spring 2012 lineup from the sneaker makers par excellence, Common Projects. As our pals from Tres Bien put it; “it takes a subtle eye to appreciate everything that makes up the CP collection, but Pete and Flavio haven’t been resting on their laurels, and the Spring ‘12 collection is proof.” From the original minimalist sneaker range to runners and even more grown up boots and brogues, the line is one to beat. Peruse the gallery for some more peeks.”

OHW? Footwear

OHW? Footwear

Here’s a new footwear line with an interesting spin on their story. Two footwear designers, over dinner in China, decide to start a new footwear line which will set them apart from the market with the idea of “guarantee[ing] original design, product quality and brand integrity.” The first goal is a difficult one, we must add. How many times have you walked into a footwear shop and noted incredible similarities (and for good reason). Well, OHW? (pronounced “who”) believe they can achieve all of this. They happen to own the factory…

What you will see in the OHW? offering for Spring/Summer 2012 are casual looks in silhouettes that will be familiar to you. They offer seven styles to start with. Take a look and let us know what you think…

Red Wing Wabasha Collection

selectism - Red Wing Wabasha Collection

Here’s a gentle reminder that Minnesota’s finest heritage footwear, Red Wing, has great Summer application.

The Wabasha Collection of chukka and deck shoes is named after the town of Wabasha, MN, which lies about thirty miles downstream from Red Wing. Employment of the Mississippi rivers was essential for Red Wing’s service of upper Midwest merchants. It took some skill to navigate the section, and the rugged collection pays tribute (in a sense) to the men that transported the company’s early goods.

Kris Van Assche Footwear Autumn/Winter 2011

Here’s a look at the forthcoming footwear collection from Kris Van Assche’s Autumn/Winter 2011 collection. They continue to push forward with a take a modern men’s footwear which has been “borrowed” and “inspired” a wide range of other brands. Leathers in suede look strong. Well worth spending some time on this one. Plan your budget accordingly.

NYT “At Their Feet, Crafted by Hand”

NYT "At Their Feet, Crafted by Hand"

The New York Times gets into the craft movement with an article focused on the re-invigorated footwear market in the U.S.A. The focus is on Wisconsin’s  Allen Edmunds. “This year, Allen Edmonds is on track to produce 500,000 pairs of shoes, up from 350,000 last year. Since January 2010, the company has added more than 118 employees and increased its work shifts, the results of a turnaround that has surprised even veteran shoemakers like Mr. Merrill. More than 400 pairs of shoes pass through his hands in a day, in a process that involves 220 steps from leather to lace-ups.”
