Fantastic Man is recommending this “rare” floral based scent by Edition de Parfum’s Frédéric Malle, worked with Dominique Ropion. They mention that it smells like a “good” gin and tonic. We just hope in that it wafts in a way that does not label the wearer as drinking in the mid-afternoon day – which would be fine in some cities.

GANT prepares the launch of their first fragrance available today exclusively at GANT stores throughout the world. GANT worked with perfumer Pierre Wulff and bottle designer Pierre Dinand on the scent and bottle which is inspired by the sailing and coastal living of New England. The scent is described as “[the] freshness of the sea and the woody aroma of boats. Tar, ocean and wood scents blend with notes of lemon, coriander and lavender, resulting in a remarkably fresh and masculine scent.”

Burberry delivers two limited edition scents for the guys and gals. Available now, Burberry Summer offers something citrus-like for the guys: “Summer for Men is a citrus, aqueous, woody scent: a combination of fresh mint and juniper berries blended with hints of warm and dry cedar and sandal wood – an ideal blend of the summer’s freshest ingredients.” Tasty.

Designer Hussein Chalayan works with Comme des Garcons on a new fragrance with takes the same name as his Autumn/Winter 2007 collection. “Airborne” is a unisex fragrance which includes “notes of the exotic Tunisian Neroli, Lemon from Syracuse, Bergamot, Lentiscus from Cyprus, Juniper Berry, Incense, Musk and Cedarwood” This is Chalayan’s first ever scent and represents “a journey from Cyprus to London… that’s why the frosted glass of the bottle and the box depicts etched cityscapes to reinforce the traveling man’s theme.” (wwd)

Acquire turns us onto a new fragrance coming from the Paul Smith world this Summer 2011. “This fragrance is all about having fun, living life to the full and pure energy. It contains a vibrant top note of mandarin, alongside the surprise kick of black pepper. The aromatic heart of sage, mixed with the sweetness of geranium, and the clean crisp marine note. The sensual base is classic Paul Smith, because of its cedar and vetiver note mixed with the enveloping amber.”

We’re not sure this classes as menswear news per se, but anything Ralphie related gets a pass. This time they’ve teamed with Rumi Neely from Fashion Toast to create an advert with her and her boyfriend, of which they posted up the behind the scenes today. We wonder if it will be as good as Khloe and Lamar’s ‘Unbreakable’ advert? Of course not. You can’t top genius. (Fashion toast)

Selectism favorite, Balmain, has launched a new fragrance for men. “A modern and luminous fragrance, both spicy and woody, Carbone de Balmain is an enduring scent, worked around the black fig that is tinted with dark and sensual accents. A fragrance dedicated to a modern and urban man who has a passion for new technologies, performance, resistance and lightness.”

CREED’s Green Irish Tweed is ready for this week’s festivities. Some famous St. Patrick’s Day Parade heads received the fragrance as well: “Grand marshals of St. Pat’s parades in New York, Chicago and Boston were presented with bottles of the famed sandalwood, ambergris, verbena and iris blend by the CEO of CREED North America last month.” Stop in at the CREED Shop at 794 Madison Avenue at 67th Street on March 17th for a spritz from the fragrance.

Acquire taps into the Gucci goods. Some “gult” for you guys. “Gucci is introducing a men’s version of their Guilty scent with notes of citrus, lavender, and patchouli and sandalwood. Alongside the new scent they filmed a beautifully shot campaign with comic book icon Frank Miller starring Chris Evans and Evan Rachel Wood.”
