Selectism - Odin Fragrances

Though men may not wear women’s fragrances, many women prefer to rock the scents developed for me. For this reason, (one directional) unisex fragrances may start to push harder than ever. Odin is right their with their take on the scent game. “Eddy Chai and Paul Biradi have teamed up with Larry Paul and Kelly Kovack of Purpose-Built for a line of unisex fragrances. After working with German perfumer Drom on the development of three distinct fragrances over the course of a year, Odin Fragrances is set to launch, being carried exclusively in the Los Angeles area at Studio Beautymix @ Fred Segal, as well as nationally at other locations.” (fashonisto)

Brooks Brothers Black Fleece Fragrance

Selectism - Brooks Brothers Black Fleece Fragrance

Brooks Brother’s Black Fleece launched a new fragrance as part of last Thursday’s “Fashion Night Out.” “This packaging for Brooks Brothers combines the traditional world of fine tailoring with the distinctly forward thinking attitude of Thom Brown’s Black Fleece collections. Ceramics and references to office stationary of the 1940s are reinterpreted in a thoroughly modern way. A zip-strip on the secondary packaging tears off to remove all graphics, revealing a pure white inner box, containing layers of cut-out felt and fabric used in suit-making, cushioned around the bottle.” (dieline)

gq uk fragrance feature summer 2009 Summer Scents on GQ UK

GQ UK runs a quick feature on the choice scents for Summer 2009. Though the feature tends to stick to the big guns on men’s fragrances – Hugo Boss, DKNY, Armani, Burberry – the feature is a starting point for a dip into seasonal fragrance market. Worth a read.

Baxter of California is extending their mens grooming line with two new fragrances - Bravado 2 and Bravado 3 – which will be available exclusively through Barneys. “The company’s founder, Baxter Finley, first launched the original Bravado, a floral woodsy cologne in the early 1970’s, but the fragrance has since been retired for over 7 years.” The new fragrances are a re-introduction for the Baxter bran into this market. Look for them at Barneys come mid-April.

ck we are one mp3 player CK One & CK Be we are one Bottle MP3 Players

As a fragrance alone, CK One would probably not be a something we would feature here, but Calvin Klein re-packaged the product into an interesting casement. As part of the CK “We are One” campaign beginning this March, you will be able to purchase CK One or CK Be with an MP3 player and speaker that ties into their idea of “music as the universal language.” We couldn’t agree more.

Helmut Lang Eau De Cologne & Parfum

helmut lang parfum 02 Helmut Lang Eau De Cologne & Parfum

The Helmut Lang by Helmut Lang Eau de Cologne is not a new fragrance. Developed in 2001, the Helmut Lang fragrance for men comes off with a woodsy scent and as recommended should be worn in the “evenings.” Of course, we love to dabble with new fragrances, but we also love the package design for the product from Marc Atlan Design Inc. – the same design house that worked on a variety of Comme Des Garcons and YSL packaging. (via lovelypackage)

Selectism - Parfumerie Generale

Developing perfumes is no easy task. Most people in the business go to perfumery schools in Europe and land some gigs in high house locations throughout scented world. But some like aerospace chemist, Pierre Guillaume, simply played around with scents in his spare time.

Pierre Guillaume began Parfumerie Generale from this hobby and now has over twenty-five fragrances in the high end niche perfume market. He sticks to his guns using the same process he used in aerospace by “bombarding raw materials” with alcohol to “break” the perfumes. Currently only available in Europe, look for Parfumerie Generale to land Stateside soon (via GQ March).
