Fred Perry Authentic Spring/Summer 2012 brings together pieces designed to be worn on or off the field. The collection is divided into three parts, each with specific looks. 60s casual with that smart edge in the form of harringtons and chinos. Relaxed sweats and cotton gingham shorts of the ‘lo-tech’ variety, as well as classic, more formal cuts from the 50s through to 70s. We spoke about this collab briefly in our feature on Kenneth MacKenzie last week and here’s the results. The 6876/Fred Perry collab was the result of some mining through the archives of 6876, bringing back some of their greatest hits, so to speak, alongside some original creations. One from the archives, this car coat has all those little things we appreciate – handwarmer pockets with button tab closure, concealed superlampo zip placket – you know, that kind of thing. End has it.

A joint effort from two brands that seem like old friends. Simple, British, easy to wear, sitting somewhere between classic and modern, the ten piece collection draws on the basic shapes and cuts present in both 6876 and Fred Perry. Short and long sleeved shirts in corduroy and chambray, placket front polos, lambswool and merino knitwear and a British Millerain car coat. Peter Blake delivers three polo shirts for the Fred Perry brand; all made and printed in England that feature the Union Jack and rainbow patches alongside printed icons. “Sir Peter Blake has created some of the most iconic cover art of the last fifty years, most notably for The Beatles’ Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and Paul Weller’s Stanley Road.  He share’s Fred Perry’s unique affinity with the British music industry.”

We hadn’t planned on bigging up a zipped jumper (really, we hadn’t) but this one actually looks good. Part of the ongoing – and seemingly never-ending – collaboration between Raf Simons and Fred Perry, it combines things we should hate on reflex but we can’t because they actually work. (Oki-Ni)

A good polo shirt is hard to turn down. And, obviously, this is a good polo shirt. While we can’t say we’re the inspiration for this shirt is from, but it looks like a polo version of a contrast collar banker’s shirt. It’s kinda wall street gone scally, in a good way. (Fred Perry)
