The new agnes b store is a “galerie boutique” on Howard Street in New York City brings together (for the  first time) Agnès love of contemporary art as well as her retail. She has long been a strong supporter of the arts. Agnès also runs  ”Galerie du Jour Paris and has been a supporter and collector of artists for many decades.  The 3000 foot flagship store [on Howard Street] is located on in a beautifully restored 1863 landmark building and Agnès design concept blends historic architectural details with a fresh contemporary aesthetic.”

To celebrate her new flagship, “Agnès has asked many friends and artists to create a design for her ongoing Artist T-Shirt line.
Harmony Korine, Ryan McGinness, Jose Parla, Bast, Ryan McGinley and Jonas Mekas are just some of the artists who have contributed.”

More looks after the click.

Selectism - pay-display-01

In Brighton? No? Well, regardless, there’s an interesting exhibition on there, should you be in that part of the UK. Well, we say exhibition, we mean a pop-up gallery which will sell prints from the likes of Modern Toss (who’s periodic tablecloth of swearing is above). You can find the address and make an enquiry on their official site.

Kienholz: The Hoerengracht

Walked through The Hoerengracht instillation at the National Gallery (London) yesterday, and was most impressed with the interpretation of the exhibition. Curator Colin Wiggins ties the sculptural work, composed by Ed and Nancy Kienholz in the mid-80s, to visual traditions well established in European art. Unlike a few other exhibitions focused on a single piece, visitors are not overwhelmed by comparative works here. It’s a quick lesson and then into the experience. Well worth popping in if your in London, it’s on view through February 21, 2010.

The above video gives an indication of the feel of walking through the Kienholz vision of Amsterdam’s Red Light District, as well as an introduction to Wiggins interpretation.

Bobby from Kitsune Noir snapped up some great images from Urban Outfitter’s “retail experiment” Space 15 Twenty at 1520 North Cahuenga Blvd in Los Angeles. “The Space so far features Urban Outfitters, Alife, What Comes Around Goes Around, Hennessey + Ingalls, We The Free, Snack Bar, Samantha Pleet, and Hope Gallery. The space is absolutely amazing, lots of natural woods, exposed bricks, and little nooks and crannies to explore.”
