Japan’s …Reseach has followed their beautiful Mountain collection with a few fantastic coats from their “Naval Research” line. The same outstanding attention to detail and development, this type generated from a lower sea level. Garbstore will have these in stock and ready for sailing soon.

The folks behind the Japanese “Research” brands are anything but low minded folk. Through exhaustive research, the products they present capture the best details, cuts, fabrics and styles of their chosen theme. Mountain Research, naturally, results in some stunning outerwear. Garbstore, the only outlet in the world to carry some of the larger sizes of Mountain Research, has just received the latest. There is a garment bag, and a ton of good things to stuff it with. Coats of several varieties, sharp shirts, rugby’s and even a basic long-sleeve. A bit of new Navel Research has also arrived, so if you’re thinking more coast than hill top, that’s covered.

Cotton totes are a man’s new best friend. This General Research Container Tote is a slight change from the usual tote with its animated print. The Container bag is made from heavy duty printed anarchic cotton canvas with nylon webbing volume strap accros opening span. The addition of the shoulder strap means you can pack this baby in.

The new Garbstore Fall/Winter 2008 colllection has been released. The UK brand has impressed us so far and continues to do so with their new collection. Offering vintage inspired clothing, always with the right amount of details and perfect choice in materials. Certainly something we have not seen from many new brands, coming from Europe or the US.

The Garbstore online store now carries first pieces of the Fall/Winter 2008 collection, including different kinds of jackets, as well as shirts.

Nicholas Taylor documented Jean Michel Basquiat, Band Gray and the 80’s NY Club Scene as a photographer. He made some t-shirts in Japan, that carry some of his most iconic images. Garbstore in London now has them in stock!

It is no secret that we really like Garbstore. Looking at first images of the upcoming Fall/Winter ‘08 collection that tendency does also not seem to change any time soon.The term "Unfamiliar Vintage" once again best describes the new collection, which fuses innovative materials and modern interpretations of vintage styles. The Fall/Winter ‘08 collection also seems to be inspired by the outdoors, hunting and outdoor activities in general.

The new collection will be on display at the Capsule Show in Paris end of June.

Taking inspiration from vintage clothing seems basic on the surface. However, rarely do people push beyond the basic rehashing of old themes and looks. Garbstore is about capturing a feeling in manufacturing and detail. Against the rash of retro style and nostalgic graphic pilfering, this approach is certainly refreshing. It proves the benefits of looking closely at material culture and extracting lessons from that exercise.

Having founded One True Saxon, and helmed R. Newbold and Red Ear in the Paul Smith empire, Ian Paley’s reputation speaks for itself. His experiences, no doubt, have provided him with necessary tools to pick apart aspects of the old and re-imagine them so cleanly. Garbstore is a brand hinged directly on the quality of its product and the joys of making new items.

Garbstore is by far the most interesting new brand to come out of Europe in recent years. As one of a few, they have created a brand that concentrates on quality and history. Each piece has a story and materials are carefully chosen until they are right. The brand describes its own style as “Unfamiliar Vintage”, and there is not a better word for it.

Here we present you now the Spring/Summer 2008 collection, which is arriving in stores right now. Flight Jackets, Denim Military Jackets, quality knitwear, denim, chinos, shirts, t-shirts and more can be found in the collection. A modern take of vintage pieces. The most simple pieces at first sight, feature lots of details at closer inspection. It is nice exploring fashion again and finding out more about a piece that one bought over the course of time, instead of seeing everything there is to it right away. Via Highsnobiety.

UK brand Garbstore is about to open its first flagship store in London later this month. Here we have first pictures of the store, for now only of the basement, but it’s already looking really good.

In recent years we finally see some brands turning their back on the otherwise mostly Marketing driven fashion market. They return to their core principles of making good product. The interview that we wrote about this morning with Visvim Designer Hiroki Nakamura nicely demonstrated that, and Garbstore is for sure a brand that belongs in the very same category.
