Gestalten TV returns with their latest film short with fashion designer, Henrik Vibskov. We go inside his Copenhagen studio and discuss fashion (of course), color and discuss his forthcoming “comprehensive” monograph book. Henrik Vibskov is a 240-page affair that document the work of the 40 year old designer – sometimes misunderstood, but always on the edge of next.

The monograph book is filled with project descriptions and photography that highlights his design work on and off the runway, including museum works as shown at PS1 MOMA, ICA London, Akira Ikeda Gallery, Nagoya; and other locales. Available in late April from Gestalten.

The 2012 edition of the annual The Design Hotels Book is out now on the Gestalten imprint. The new 2012 edition of hotel design book features more than 220 hotels including 21 new properties with new destination hotels in locales such as Portrobelo, Nairobi, Sydney, and Bogata.

It is a thick hotel bookat 482 pages, with information on each destination – across more than 40 countries. There are some incredible destinations to discover. It is a great reference book for those look for unique hotel getaways  within a well known hotel group.

Gestalten TV goes inside the New York Times to spend time with the Graphics Department: the people behind all the infographics and day to day graphics which we love and enjoy daily on the NYT newspaper and online. A highly recommended viewing inside an important aspect of modern media.

As we’ve mentioned before, we’re not into exclamation points on books. All that enforced jollity gets us down.

Especially during Christmas and New Years, when our E.J. levels are being drained by family members we barely like. Exclamation point aside, Out of the Box! does look good. Labelled as a ‘compelling exploration of the power of state-of-the-art packaging design today’, it looks looks an intriguing read. My youthful obsession with typography remains today. No player outside of Emigre was more important to me than House Industries. I still hold a stockroom full of their type catalogs, posters, and especially their monograph book (out of print – we can only pray it returns). Is it too early to start recommending gifts for Christmas? If it is then we’ll just mention that this would make a good Christmas gift.
