Oh shit. They’re due in stock soon (sure it says sold out – but they’ll get more) . Not surprised really. The Monocle massive can move anything. This time around the print mag turns to Gitman Brothers for some shirt love. “These short-sleeved summer shirts, developed in collaboration with American heritage brand Gitman Bros, are in a classic slim fit with button-down collar. They are available in white, blue and navy.” The Monocle Shop has them.

Selectism - Gitman Vintage Spring/Summer 2010 Shirts

Gtiman Vintage returns with another strong collection of shirts for the gents. “Debuting its third season, the Gitman Vintage Spring / Summer 2010 collection pays homage to Spring / Summer 1984. In addition to selecting perennial favorites, such as washed solid and striped oxfords and a range of colorful chambrays, we also choose for this collection some of our favorites from the past: antique seersucker, cotton madras, bright cabana stripes, short sleeve formal in double-washed denim and some decidedly fun patch work madras.”

Gitman Vintage Heavy Chambray Shirt

Chambray-fatigue is a syndrome that attacks those suffering from an overdose of the fabric. Take a seat and lets us explain why this chambray shirt is worth purchasing. The difference between this and the hundreds of other chambray shirts available right now is that this is a heavyweight material, making it much more suitable for winter – as well as making it much harder to iron – as you can see in the pictures above. The detailing is simple and fuss free and the quality of Gitman goes without saying. They’re a brand respected by everyone, whether you’re a fashion kid or someone who sits on message boards writing bitter posts about us. Hopefully we’ve cured you. (Tres Bien)

Gitman Brothers Vintage for Context

Don’t call it a comeback. Gitman Brothers haven’t gone away since the 70’s, it’s just taken that long for us silly blogs to give them their due props. Their vintage range has been bubbling for a few seasons and now they’re branching out, doing exclusive colllections with prize retailers. While we like the super-duper limited production thing that they’ve been doing for some of their collabs, it’s nice to see something you can actually get hold of.

The range doesn’t fall in love with any particular shirt style, darting from oxfords to stripes to plaids and flannels. Plaid ties also make an appearance, they’ll be perfect for those who want to add flair by doubling up on plaids. The full collection is exclusively available at Context.

More shots of the collection after the leap.

Right to the point to close off an awesome Friday of sun and fun. A nice simple, to the point, chambray oxford twill shirt form the good people at Gitman. A nice cut on this piece and when modeled, looks to have a hlem line which allows for you to wear it out without scraping your ass. (blackbird)

Gitman Brothers Vintage Spring/Summer 2009

Gitman Brothers is one of the last remaining ready-to-wear shirt makers in the USA.  Originally called the Ashland Shirt & Pajama factory (circa 1930s), the factory was purchased by the Gitman Brothers in 1978… What sets it apart is not just the authentic styling and use of the original 1978 label, but also the actual line sheets from the early ’80s that inspired the fabrications or are actually re-fabricated themselves.  In fact a number of models for Spring/Summer 2009 are exactly what we sold 27 years ago (with only some slight modifications to fit).”
