Wallpaper* Magazine for Globe Trotter Special Edition Suitcase

Selectism - Globe-Trotter x Wallpaper* Suitcase

All’s been quiet on the Globe Trotter front lately. They’ve been doing collabs for a while now and, whilst we’re usually anti-useless collabs, Globe Trotter are a brand who always seem to do them right. This time they’ve continued their ongoing collaboration with Wallpaper* magazine – which has great taste in guest editors – for this special edition suitcase. Using an illustration by Russell Bell (insert your own The Wire joke here) this ongoing collaboration sees two versions,  a holdall and a suitcase, costing £450 and £925 respectively. Stockists include at the London flagship store 54-55 Burlington Arcade, Harrods, Selfridges, Browns, The Conran Shop and selected stockists in the USA, Italy, France, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Spain, Hong Kong, China, Korea, Taiwan and Japan.

Selectism - Globe-Trotter for Happy Socks

This is a pairing made in heaven. Globe-Trotter and Happy Socks are partners – not in the sock making business but the display world. Globe-Trotter has been named Happy Socks’ official display partner for the US market. Not a bad deal for Happy Socks who now have the sexiest luggage and display kits on the tradshow circuit.

‘Timeless’ has turned into something of a buzzword these days, but it does describe Globe Trotters approach to design in a nutshell. They use an archive liberty print as the inside lining on these ones and they’re called the 1897 because that’s when Globe Trotter was established. More importantly, they’d match any number of outfits and work as a great conversation starter if you were heading to a fashion week or tradeshow.

Globe Trotter Surf Rider Collection

Globe Trotter’s luggage design is something of a classic -  remaining unchanged since the company was first established in 1897. So it’s only natural that the company would seek to change things up a little by changing linings, colours and straps. This limited edition ‘Surf Rider’ collection features Hawaiian shirt print lining along the inside. Thankfully this is as far as the print goes, giving the collection a playfullness but staying away from pastiche.

London’s Globe-Trotter showcased their fine line of hand made luxury luggage and accessories last week in Las Vegas.  There is something timeless about their luggage. The pieces come off as modern day classic and are easily recognizable by their strappings that wrap their luggage. They also continue to show their “One Hundred and Ten” carbon fiber and kevlar suitcase as part of their 110th anniversary celebration. Check the image of the business card holder (above). Loving it.

Globe-Trotter has been making suitcases since 1897. They use Vulcan Fibre, a durable material made of compressed paper. This fiber has been produced in exactly the same way since 1850. With those facts, history is on the side of the Centenary Trolley Suitcase. Add to that, they are entirely hand made. Moss has them for sale.

Selectism - Globe-Trotter Luggage for J. Crew

Coolhunting brings us some luggae goodness (and you know how we love the luggage). "J. Crew has been making some surprisingly well-executed forays into the luxury market as of late and the latest such unexpected product is a collaboration with the British maker of hand-made traveling cases and trunks, Globe-Trotter. Though the New York-based clothier isn’t the first to team up with Globe-Trotter (see the Conran shop’s 2007 offering), their partnership goes further introducing a six-piece line of luggage in a gorgeous black and tan colorway with gold hardware."

1800$US for the J. Crew Globe-Trotter Luggage.
