GQ’s Oral History of Menswear Blogging

GQ's Oral History of Menswear Blogging

GQ brings out the New York (and slightly beyond) guns to give their “oral” history of the menswear blogging movement. You can read the full article here on GQ. The four online-page affair is worth a read: the conversation jumps from the early mid 2000’s views to the common day world of re-blogging on Tumblr (which is the whole damn point of Tumblr). The content-wrapped shopping sites get some nods in there as well for blurring the line between editorial and commerce. Worth a read.

GQ and Park & Bond Pop-up Shop in New York City

Some looks inside the new GQ x Park & Bond pop-up shop in New York City. These two have been working together since Park & Bond’s launch, so it should come at no surprise that their small landing in the city would come forth around the holidays. Shoppers will find goods and garments from A.PC., Common Projects, Etro, Filson, GANT, Jack Spade, Lacoste, Mackintosh, Oliver Peoples, Orlebar Brown, Paul Smith, Simon Spurr, Thom Browne and Vilebrequin, as well as highlights from GQ’s “Best Stuff of the Year.” We hope our TUMI collaborative duffle bag is in there a well.

The hours are tight on the new pop-up: OPEN from Wed-Sunday at 11am, CLOSED Monday and Tuesday. Find them at 414 W. 14th Street, between 9th Avenue and Washington Street.

GQ’s latest spread on suites features bands with some upcoming and recent releases. “This spring brings a slew of electrifying new releases from MGMT, The  National, The Walkmen, The Drums, and David Byrne.  In the May issue of GQ, these bands are shown wearing a range of suits that will rock – even without a guitar slung over your shoulder.   MGMT sports striped suits with brightly colored shirts, The National plug into plaid, The Walkmen square off in patterned suits, The Drums suit up in cotton, and David Byrne cranks up a dark suit by wearing white shoes.”

Congrats to Billy Reid. GQ announced to today that he was awarded “2010 Best New Menswear Designer In America.” “William ‘Billy’ Reid grew up Amite, Louisiana, just south of the Mississippi line. gq russia spring yu tsai 4 Spring Editorial from GQ Russia

A nice editorial from GQ Russia featuring Eddie Klint and photographed by Yu-Tsai. The editorial brings a soft feel to “Easter” fashions that will work well throughout the season. Pink blazers are set against grey trousers and short pants. The whole shoot makes me wish I could escape this loft and head to the garden to enjoy the sun and a Bento box. (coutequecoute)

The UK iteration of GQ recently underwent a redesign and they’ve included a number of editorials to their fashion section, including a feature on American sportswear and cobalt blue. By far their best though is this weekend bag feature, showing six of the best holdalls from people like Norton & Sons, Mulberry and Bric’s. Take a look at the full article here.
