Grenson Footwear – Autumn Winter 2012 – Preview

grenson shoes fall winter 2012 27 Grenson Footwear Autumn Winter 2012 Preview

From our point of view, the footwear game for Autumn Winter 2012 is a strong one, thanks to the likes of folks like Grenson. The boot above is only one of the many examples from their collection that we will happily keep an eye on the street for. The classic “Bean boot” gets a re-work and a high-end upgrade through strong leathers across three colorways. The gallery tells the Grenson story better than words can.

Grenson Footwear for Spring/Summer 2012 – A Look

Grenson Footwear for Spring/Summer 2012 - A Look

We first previewed the Grenson S/S 2012 collection back at Pitt last year. We, of course, will be returning next week for even more. For now, we bring a wide selection of official Grenson looks. Spring/Summer continue to re-invent the classic silhouettes found in the brand’s archive – new takes on leather and soles bring freshness to the warm seasons. While heritage may have boomed, makers like Grenson continue to prove why their looks remain above that categorical listing.

Grenson for Heritage Research Spring Summer 2012

19 December 2011, 12.00 | Posted in Fashion, Shoes | No comments »

hr grenson 01 Grenson for Heritage Research Spring Summer 2012

We continue our look at this most excellent of collaborations. Alongside the wingtip previously displayed, 4 more models to add to the list of shoes we need to wear very very soon, this time focusing on Spring Summer 2012. Our favourites have to be the cordovan bowling shoe and chunky loafer, the blue suede model with brick red English Dainite sole is a winner. HR tell us this collection is inspired by British photojournalist Larry Burrows and the general 60s counter culture theme running through Spring Summer. Excellent stuff as usual. Grenson for Heritage Research Long Wing Brogue Shoes

grenson HR1 Grenson for Heritage Research Long Wing Brogue Shoes

A joint effort from two of our favourite brands. Grenson, traditional shoe-makers meet Heritage Research, producers of some incredible vintage inspired menswear. This long wing brogue is made to fit slightly slimmer than a traditional model making it that bit easier to wear. It features calf skin leather designed to age with wear and use, waxed leather laces, Goodyear welted soles and a whole lot of expertise from two labels who know what’s up. END has them.

Grenson for theNextdoor “Fred” Shoe

grenson thenextdoor fred boots 1 Grenson for theNextdoor Fred Shoe

Grenson has not shortage of special make-ups but as we come to the closing of 2011, we’re happy to see they remain on point with the work. Their latest is a double boot calvary for France’s theNextdoor shop – one of their oldest accounts in FR. The Fred boot, with its wingtip accents, is treated with nylon mountaineering laces against either a black or beige upper (both with contrasting soles). No typical make-up here and worth a more detailed look.

Grenson Two-Tone Boots

Selectism - grenson-two-tone-01

Two tone shoes are always on the peripheral of trendiness – which is good if you’re thinking about buying a pair. They’re never so in that you’re forced to put yours into hibernation for fear of looking like every tom, dick and google reader . And they’re never so out that you end up looking like you’re dressing for the tweed run. Not that you pay any attention to trends, you’re cleverer than that.

Take a leap to see the other shoe.

First Look | Grenson G Zero

Selectism - grenson-g-zero-01

Despite sounding like the name for a new type of Pepsi, G Zero is the new line from Grenson. They started out with a basic remit: creating the best quality shoe they could make. With this they’ve made a shoe that uses closed channel stitching, hand painted soles and burnished calf lining. Sounds nice. It’s available exclusively at Mr Porter.

Grenson for Barbour Marske Brogue

grenson barbour brogue shoe mens 1 Grenson for Barbour Marske Brogue

We’ll tell you that Grenson is still very much an in-house favorite, as is Barbour. Sure, the world (including us) have pushed and hyped both brands well beyond either company’s idea of placement, but do the two work together well? Do Barbour textiles work against the Grenson brogue? We think so. The thick welted brogue works. Three other styles from this small collection including a derby boot and wingtip shoe are coming soon.

Grenson for Barbour Shoes

Selectism - Barbour Grenson final.indd

We’re just gonna come out and say it: we’re blogasming right now. Two of the most splendiferous, blogtastical brands of recent times have teamed up together to create the sort of things menswear bloggers go to bed dreaming of. They’ve created several boots and brogues that mix Grenson’s shoemaker skills with Barbour’s waxed goodness. Available from selected stores from this month, it’ll be making an appearance at your favourite store in days. For now get a look at the range after the leap.
