FSD is reporting about Gucci’s new mobile phone initiative that has just launched in Japan. While some high end houses are developing mobile phones for their consumers, Gucci has developed a portal for mobile users that harnesses the power of QR codes in redirecting consumers to special URLs on guiccijoy.jp.

“The QR codes, similar to the bar codes used in supermarkets, can be found either on the Gucci Joy advertising pages of Japanese magazines or on Gucci Joy outdoor advertising.” Currently, the redirection offers users a glimpse into the Gucci Joy Collection of handbags and accessories as well as special icons and wallpapers.

We reported about the limited edition “Gucci Hearts NY” collection that was released along with the opening of the new Gucci NYC flagship store. Now they also launched an entire website for the occasion, where you can take a tour of the new store, upload pictures of NYC, and read their celebrity blogs. The celebrity fashion bloggers also give their favorite spots in NYC.

With the new Gucci flagship store on 5th avenue in NYC just around the corner of opening, the Italian luxury brand has got some special products aligned. They will be releasing a “Gucci Hearts NY” collection.

“Gucci is also launching a special microsite to go along with the launch of the “Gucci Hearts NY” products. All “Gucci Hearts NY” and Fifth Avenue products can only be purchased at the new Fifth Avenue store and each bears an inscribed internal “Gucci 5th Avenue” plaque” Via FWD.

Something to look out for! The “Hearts NY” idea is maybe not the most original, but at least they are starting to do specials for such events, which is definitely something a lot of people will be buying into!

For next years Olympic Games in Beijing Italian luxury brand Gucci presents a limited edition collection. The line labeled 8-8-2008, consists of a travel bag, digital watch, sneakers and more. The watch will already be released next month worldwide, unfortunately the rest of the collection will only be available in Asia, later in the year.
