Globe-Trotter for Hackett

globe trotter for hackett

Globe-Trotter has linked up with fellow English brand Hackett on a small capsule collection. By now you should know that we are big fans of the luggage brand, still today presenting some of the most classy, if not most practical, masterfully crafted luggage in the market.

“…Hackett has teamed up with Globe-Trotter on a portmanteau collection of hand-made, durable cases that are well worth checking in. The best bit? The spiffy linings: Prince of Wales check for the black Mayfair range, blue and white Bengal stripe for the navy London line and a Union Jack for the Aston Martin Racing set (in British Racing Green, natch). Give a whole new meaning to the phrase “matching luggage” whether you’re travelling to a business meeting or race meet.”

With prices starting at 490 Pounds, throwing in the 75 Pound service for adding your initials is a no-brainer.

Detailed images of the suitcases follow after the jump.

Hackett Spring/Summer 2010 Bow Tie

06 November 2009, 18.30 | Posted in Accessories | No comments »

selectism - hackett-spring-2010-bow-tieBy now you either love or hate bow ties, there’s no middle ground on this one. Those that love their bow ties will be glad to know about this Hackett piece – it’s perfect for those spring days when you’re doing nothing but looking nautically good. Those that hate bow-ties will already have changed sites by now, so there’s no need to address them. Like all SS10 pieces, expect this to drop in January.

Hackett Spring/Summer 2010 Striped Blazer

Selectism - Hackett Spring 2010 Jacket

We’re going to make a bold statement for next spring/summer – nautical will be back in fashion. We know, it’s an incredibly bold thing to say. But seeing as nautical (aka the trend that never dies) will be back again next year, the real question to ask is ‘how do we make it fresh?’ Hackett have found the answer – elbow patches. It’s so simple that we’re sure high street retailers are frantically scrambling to make knock offs pay homage to this piece. Like 99% of SS10 pieces, this will be available from January.

Take a leap to see detailed images of the blazer.

Hackett Cable Knit Hat

selectism - hackett-cable-knit-hat

How times change. A few years ago the idea of Hackett making an appearance on streetwear blogs was beyond laughable. Fast forward three years and the AW09 collection was doing the internet rounds. Pieces like this cable knit hat display how their pieces can easily cross boundaries – or how those boundaries don’t exist anymore. We like the hat and, most importantly, we like the price (£30). We don’t approve of wearing the piece all beanie-like (far too skater boy for our tastes) so just roll it up a little and you’re good to go. (Hackett)

Hackett Autumn/Winter 2009 Accessories

hackett autumn 2009 01 Hackett Autumn/Winter 2009 Accessories

Hackett’s AW09 accessories collection is a mammoth collection. Despite this post and the many previous ones before it, we still haven’t shown the full collection, but now we have shown all the highlights. As expected from such a deep collection, it covers everything from washbags to cufflinks. The Aston Martin Racing mini-collection (which includes the holdall we featured yesterday) is a particular highlight, but to end on a cliche, there’s something for everyone in this collection.

Take a look at the full range after the jump.

Hackett Autumn/Winter 2009 Holdall

hackett autumn 2009 holdall1 Hackett Autumn/Winter 2009 Holdall

We previewed a couple of Hackett’s AW09 accessories a few weeks back, but as the collections pretty stacked, we’ve still got plenty more to show you. This holdall is slightly sturdier than the tan one from Hackett as it was built with travel in mind. Frequent flyers will know how your luggage gets manhandled at airports, so this is an important feature. There’s also a number of matching pieces to this holdall, including a wallet, washbag and keyring which we’ll feature tommorow when we finally show the rest of the collection.

Hackett Autumn/Winter 2009 Bow Tie

hackett autumn 2009 bow tie Hackett Autumn/Winter 2009 Bow Tie

Despite their popularity on the catwalks, bow ties are still a piece that garner mixed reactions. In our experience, this tends to be because people have extremely strong stereotypes of bow tie wearers that they didn’t have with other out of style pieces that made a comeback (ala cardigans, boat shoes, etc). For one reason or another, a bow tie is one of the few pieces that  can still elicit a ‘you’re wearing a bow tie?!’ response from a stranger. This alone is reason enough for most people on the fence about bow ties to lose all confidence and stick to buttoning up the top button of a shirt instead. If you can get over that hump then this Hackett bow tie would be a great purchase when Fall comes around.

Hackett Autumn/Winter 2009 Fair Isle Jumper

hackett autumn 2009 fair isle jumper Hackett Autumn/Winter 2009 Fair Isle Jumper

With all the fair isle hype going to Arne & Carlos, it can be easy to forget that other companies can do them just as well. Take this Hackett jumper for instance, the pattern is a great mix of complimentary colours and the knit itself is great quality. The only problem with this is that the V may be a little too deep for some, especially as crew necks seem to be coming back into fashion. If that doesn’t bother you then we’ll tell you about stockists when this becomes available.

Hackett Autumn/Winter 2009 Pyjamas

hackett autumn 2009 pajamas Hackett Autumn/Winter 2009 Pyjamas

Another day, another Hackett piece. Hackett haters will be glad to know that we won’t be featuring them every day this week, just most of the week. It’s almost cliche to reference Mad Men when talking about clothes these days, but this set does have more than a hint of Don Draper about them. We’re not usually advocates of the complete retro look – it is the year 2009 after all – but we heartily approve of these pyjamas.

We’ll be featuring Hackett’s knitwear, accessories and bag collections later on this week, so keep an eye out for those.

Hackett Autumn/Winter 2009 Holdall

hackett autumn 2009 holdall Hackett Autumn/Winter 2009 Holdall

This tan holdall is the second of our Hackett A/W09 previews and we’re big fans of this bag. Not only is the logo understated (which is more than can be said for most of their SS09 bag collection) it’s also sturdily made, unlike those annoyingly floppy barrel bags that are doing the rounds lately. The tan shade is also great and would work well within a neutral colour based outfit.
