As we still sit firmly in Spring, or for some of us a season more like Winter-lite, it seems appropriate to shine a light on the sock, still keeping us warm around the ankle area while we await better days. Everybody has a drawer full of these things, many of which have seen better days, but sometimes you have to get fancy on your sock situation. Maybe you’ve bought some trousers just that half inch to short, perhaps you’re a roller or a cuffer, maybe you sit down a lot – a reclining leg exposer. Whatever way, if you’re socks are visible to the world make it count. These six are loud, proud and mean business, let your feet do the talking.

We’ve never been huge fans of tube socks. The lack of a heel is the biggest gripe, as, from our youthful days, we remember the way they’d puff and distort around the collar of our shoes. That being said, we’re willing to give them another try, especially if the folks at Happy Socks are offering their take. After all, the Willy Wonkas of foot sheathing, Happy Socks are always tempting us to break the lame rule that flashy socks shouldn’t be the focal point of an outfit.

These new tubers are made from a cotton/poly blend to “maximise [sic] the level of comfort and quality, combining tradition and creativity.” Plus, they come up all the way over the calf, so we know they won’t be quitters. Hopefully they won’t bunch up in strange ways, but if they do, there’s always room on the shelf for a pair of sock monkeys.

PROJECT Show is looking to dot up their employees this February in Las Vegas. They teamed with sock icons Happy Socks for a collaborative polka dot affair as designed by Nick Wooster. Who knew the man liked polka dots! They’ll adorn staff and also be available in the PROJECT pop-up shop. $12 a pair.

Mr Bill Gentle hits us with another impressive Happy Socks lookbook. The usual brights, stripes, geometrics, dots and block colours return. The kind of cheerful, funtime collection we’d expect from the Swedish brand.

Some new Happy Socks action with the The Standard Hotel chain. “Happy Socks signs eight pairs of socks, two pairs per hotel: Downtown LA, Miami Beach, Hollywood and New York. The pairs will be available through an original retail process using each room’s mini bar.” Look for them throughout The Standard suite of hotels soon.
