Haversack Newsboy Cap

haversack cap 01 Haversack Newsboy Cap

As a previous post illustrated, the costumes in Boardwalk Empire are a thing of wonder. We were rather concerned though that this might turn into some awful 1930s trend spawning lots of badly dressed version of Al Capone. Well, we’re not ready to do a U-turn just yet but we might just make a concession with this newsboy cap. Haversack come good again with this panelled hat over at Takanna, 100% cotton with front popper, this is probably the only piece of headwear you can legitimately wear at a jaunty angle.

Haversack Loose Chinos

Haversack Loose Chinos

Haversack have never been ones to keep things slim and here they are again, showing us the way forward with these wide leg, loose fit chinos. We like the Olive variety, military feel without all the unnecessary pockets and tabs. Herringbone cotton twill, minimal in terms of detail. A no-fuss pair of trousers. Good stuff.

Selectism - haversack-spring-2012-01

(Above: Haversack designer Koji Norihide)

Here’s a look at Haversack’s spring collection. Like pretty much every Haversack collection lately, it’s a great collection. To pardon the cliche, there’s something for everyone, plain navy blazers for the sprezzy and patterned shirts for the fashion folks. We caught up with Koji Norihide for a couple of quick questions about the brand, which you can see after the leap.

We know some aren’t crazy about the printed shirt – we’ve even been referred to as ‘mainly bullmess these days’*. But we like ‘em and we won’t stop posting them – you’ve been warned. So put some nautical in your heritage in your chambray this year with this Haversack joint. (Context)

Haversack Spring/Summer 2011 Looks

Haversack Spring/Summer 2011 Looks

Here’s a look across the Haversack collection for Spring/Summer 2011. Production quality is top notch in this collection. A proper gentleman’s casual line. The influence is mixed: the cuts pull from the popular street trends of Tokyo while mixing in that classic European style into something new. It helps that the lookbook is well shot… Not just for the grownups.

Haversack Denim Work Jacket

Selectism - haversack-denim-work-jacket-01

In the words of Mr Jose Hustle, Haversack been making denim work jackets. The granddad collar means it’ll look good with a roll neck and, although the price makes it a ‘I have to love this before I buy it’ purchase, it’s worth the money. The amount of buttons might be off putting to some folks, but trust us, it’ll look good on. And if you can’t trust someone on the internet you’ve never met, who can you trust? (Context)

Haversack Denim Jacket

We’re in the halfway house about this one. On one hand, we kinda like the belt; On the other, we kinda don’t. We know blogging is all about being bull headed and ‘curating’ (we hate the misuse of that word) but we’re in two minds on this one. The price is  a slightly more agreeable $207 though. And (relatively) cheap sale prices are something we always get behind. (Opening Ceremony)

There’s another picture after the leap to help make your mind up.

Haversack Pocket Cardigan

selectism - haversack-pocket-cardigan-01

Despite our love of high end pieces – or because of it – we love a sale. This Haversack pocket cardigan would work well as a makeshift jacket during hotter days and a great layering piece in the winter. It’s also got the added bonus of being on sale (down to $290 from $373). (Opening Ceremony)

Extra shots are after the leap.

Haversack Chambray Shirt

selectism - haversack-chambray-shirt-01

Still can’t get enough chambray? here’s another shirt you can add to the team. The most obvious difference between this and most chambray shirts is the fact that it’s a pullover version, which gives it a nice, if not earth shaking, twist. The second one is the club collar (although Our Legacy got there first). The pockets are a little western, but not overbearingly so. After the Japan-fest today, you’ll be glad to know you won’t need a proxy for this one. (Coggles)

Haversack Shawl Collar Cardigan

02 October 2009, 13.30 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

selectism - haversack-cardigan-01

Before anyone starts, we know we’ve been featuring a shedload of shawl collar cardigans lately. We’ll cut back from now on – we’ll only post them once a week, every week without fail. At least we’re not featuring one label over and over again eh?

As far as specifics go, this cardi is the usual high quality you’d expect from the Japanese brand – fine detailing, coroza nut buttons, the whole shebang. And more importantly, that shade of green would work very well with tan cords (like these Uniqlo ones). (Oki-Ni)

Detailed shots are after that leap.
