Mister Freedom has knocked up some excellent scarves using much sought after Boro textiles. This traditional Japanese patchwork indigo fabric is the holy grail for anyone who enjoys watching blue fade. As Mr Loiron describes; ‘The fabrics are assorted, ranging from circa 1850′s~1930′s, and selected from our textile archives. Home spun, cotton, hemp, natural indigo, katazome prints, plaids, solids…’ Each piece is individual and very much limited (there’s only so much antique folk fabric scraps to go round y’know) each with its own leather ring slider to keep it in place. A bit more from Maharishi from the coming Spring/Summer 2012 collection. They worked with the eco company, Po-zu, on two models: a jungle “boot” and sandals, both of which feature biodegradable soles. Bascially, you can wear them until they’re done, bury them in the dirt, and they’ll break down in a very Earth friendly manner. All the Maharishi mili-inspiration remains…

Hemp is one of the most sustainable plants around. It’s a weed that grows faster than most and is incrediblly diverse in use – from paper, to textiles, and beyond. Koyuk delivers their variant of the hemp shoe. The two lace upper is planted onto their version of a deck shoe last.
