Grenson once again team up with British label Heritage Research for a smart set of shoes. An exclusive peek, they tell us “developed around the ’US Naval Yard’ AW12 concept, the shoes and boots are drawn from original period USN issue footwear.” Two key styles feature, the first, above is the US Navy Officers Heavy Brogue and comes in two amazing colourways, burgundy/black alongside black/navy with your choice of a crepe or double Goodyear welted leather sole. Also on offer, the Seabee Boot “a hybrid of the classic US military M-41 boot and the USN Seabee’s Engineer boot” available with either a lightweight microsole or Goodyear welted leather sole. Our friends at Heritage Research give us an exclusive close-up of the much awaited collaboration with Lofgren. For those who aren’t familiar – John Lofgren, an American living in Sendai Japan, offers some of the most authentic workwear repros on the market via his Speedway shop.

The details: “Constructed in Japan from vintage spade print indigo dyed cotton, the Lofgren for HR Engineers Shirt is based on a 1920’s Railroad Engineers uniform with details including whistle pocket and button hole for whistle chain, scoop hem with triangular gussets, chin strap collar, triple stitch yoke and sideseams and vintage hexagon bakerlite buttons.”  Limited to just 50 pieces, the star of the show is the indigo dyed ‘Aizen’ cloth and spade print designed to fade beautifully. We continue our look at this most excellent of collaborations. Alongside the wingtip previously displayed, 4 more models to add to the list of shoes we need to wear very very soon, this time focusing on Spring Summer 2012. Our favourites have to be the cordovan bowling shoe and chunky loafer, the blue suede model with brick red English Dainite sole is a winner. HR tell us this collection is inspired by British photojournalist Larry Burrows and the general 60s counter culture theme running through Spring Summer. Excellent stuff as usual. In an attempt to take a break from Christmas cheer and winter blues we’re going to turn our attention to Spring/Summer 2012 for a moment. This lookbook from Heritage Research has us right back there in sunnier times, when skies were blue and thermals just a distant thought.

Creator Russ describes the collection as having a “Vietnam era Counter Culture feel”, an apt description for a relaxed collection full of patchwork print, madras fabrics and that incredible tiger camo. Short sleeved shirts, vests, sweats and a nice line in blazers, as much as much as we’re enjoying our current extreme layering, it can’t hurt to look to the months ahead.

A joint effort from two of our favourite brands. Grenson, traditional shoe-makers meet Heritage Research, producers of some incredible vintage inspired menswear. This long wing brogue is made to fit slightly slimmer than a traditional model making it that bit easier to wear. It features calf skin leather designed to age with wear and use, waxed leather laces, Goodyear welted soles and a whole lot of expertise from two labels who know what’s up. END has them.
