Before anyone starts – yes, we know Gourmet are a ’streetwear’ brand. But that doesn’t mean we can’t feature them over here. The lines between streetwear and high end fashion have blurred enough for us to consider Gourmet a crossover brand. Anyhoo, the leather on these is top notch – the same stuff is used by the likes of Louis Vuitton – and the cutaway brings just a dash of the edgy into the mix. Now that winter’s here and everyone is talking about boots, we thought we’d show a nice little trainer alternative to chunky boot. Now that boots are back in fashion, the question now is ‘to tuck or not to tuck?’ Personally, we don’t believe in tucking in your boots, just roll your trousers a little a higher than usual. That way we can see enough of your boots and you won’t look like a Star Wars character. (ASOS)

Although Puma have collaborated with designers like Alexander McQueen in the past, the news (thanks to Men.Style via WWD) that they’ve collaborating with Yves Saint Laurent still seemed a pretty leftfield combination. YSL aren’t really known for their collaborations and, no offense to Puma, we had assumed that they’d start this route with a company that were more known for great designs. The shoe will be available exclusively online and there’s no word on price or release date.

Oki-Ni have a new version of Rick Owens’ always desirable trainers. This time it’s the ‘trainer boot’ which any lovers of Diet Butcher Slim Skin’s patent high tops will love. Usual Rick Owens trademarks include a high tongue, side zip and a picture of the designer himself on the inside.

You know a trend’s taken off when Givenchy start doing it. Not noted for their fashion forward edginess, Givenchy’s trainers are a sign that high tops are here to stay. Patent leather is making its way into mainstay territory as it’s been pretty popular for the best part of three years now. The suede upper will mean that it won’t aggravate when it rubs against the skin and best of all, now that the pound has dived against the dollar, it won’t be prohibitively expensive to get items from British sites anymore.
