A rare double dose of H&M today with the delivery of imagery form the Versace Cruise (or resort) collection for H&M. A highly toned down collection compared to the launch looks. We’re also throwing in the women’s looks from the cruise collection as they complement the men’s well. Unlike most, the Versace for H&M collection will be an online exclusive affair beginning January 19, 2012.

High-end retail collaborations continue to be the highlight of the the shopping experience for the big box stores. H&M today announced their latest collaboration in the world of fashion with Italy’s Marni fashion house. Delivering on March 8, 2012 for Spring/Summer 2012, the Marni for H&M collection features a re-boot of Marni’s original prints for men and women, including accessories – all at H&M’s controlled price points.

Marni’s founder and creative director, Consuelo Castiglioni, tells us, “I love juxtaposing prints and colors, mixing modern tribal with Bauhaus graphic and adding sporty utilitarian elements.” Expect much of that this March when the collection drops to the masses. Expect the usual excitement from this one.

New looks from the H&M menswear offering for Spring/Summer 2012 are finding their way online. The collection remains in the casual nature of the H&M brand, but brings a more formal or business-like feel to the overall collection. Tight cuts keep it all aligned in a H&M collection that features striped pull-overs, knit sweaters, parkas, and double-breasted blazers which are colored seasonally appropriate. Do wee see corduroy overalls leather shorts in there as well?

This past Tuesday evening at Pier 54 in New York City, H&M and Donatella Versace unveiled the new Versace for H&M collection to a standout audience of more than 500 guests, including Selectism. The collection, which goes on sale next Thursday, November 17, reboots a fair number of patterns and fabrics from classic Versace garbs.

A quick recap on a collection we missed to mention last week. Luckily for us, the boys at Highsnob took caree of it and bring the full lookbook to your attention. The co-brand collection is a reboot of classic materials and patterns from Versace’s last few decades. Materials in the reboot/collaborative collection, at times, look as though they should have been delivered a few years earlier when the fashion hounds were snapping up these look in vintage shops and eBay. We will give them the benefit of a fresh start though. Not for everyone, but for a select view that have personal confidence in their style work it.

This is my first foray into the H&M Home collection 2011 looks to fall under the “Industrial Modern” veil. Choose from signage to lace your bed with or the kitchen motifs which fall more classically in line with what grandma would pass onto you. Images and looks from the  ”one-time” Lanvin for H&M collection have just dropped online. GQ U.K. looks to have jumped GQ U.S. on this one. Lucas Ossendrijver Lanvin’s head of menswear design, speaking from his Paris studio. gives a strong response: “I’m so happy we’re not about the logo, but the special nature of the piece[s].” The 40 piece collection ranges from $24 to $240 for a suit – well under the Lanvin usual. Expect this collection to blowout instantly.
