North Sea continue their march to accessory glory with another addition to the collection. A simple canvas holdall with a nautical feel (well, it’s trimmed with navy), they have enlisted the skills of a long established Belgian craftsman.

Using leather from English tannery Sedgwicks, everything is constructed by a small saddlery firm. As with all things from this label, expect sturdy, hard-wearing goodness with this carrier – those rubber handles mean business. More at North Sea.

A no nonsense holdall from Ralph Lauren. This sizable piece of kit fits into the ’short week’ rather than weekender category. Plenty of room for all your holiday essentials. If you find yourself without without any particular destination we wouldn’t judge if you carried this around with just your phone and wallet inside. The past few seasons has seen Oliver Spencer expand their lines whilst strategically unifying a core aesthetic, focusing on the continued development of both garments and accessories.

The later has benefited from what feels like a greater level of attention, most recently demonstrated by the introduction of A/W’s leather holdall. The bag comes in chocolate brown or tan, both of which feature a striking camo-print lining, providing a concealed contrast to the minimal outer. It also includes a detachable canvas shoulder strap and front-mounted pockets. The pockets secure with two simple rivets as not to distract from the intentional simplicity of the piece, a sure indicator of the brands continued commitment to quality detailing. As you can probably tell, we’re quite the fans of Want Les Essentiels’ organic canvas range. We could say it’s because we’re looking out for the environment but that’d be a lie. We just want those designs at a lower price. It’s still not cheap but we all know the mantra about paying for quality. Maybe you should consider saving up some money for it? Delayed gratification can be a great thing sometimes. (Ssense)

We can’t get enough holdalls in our lives. It’s gotten so bad we’ve resorted to placing them on walls like they were pieces of art. It’s been a while since we’ve featured some Ally Capellino stuff to buy, but this bag is too handsome to ignore. It’s perfectly sized for an overhead plane compartment too, which should please those frequent (and not-so-frequent) flyers out there. We’re having an unofficial bag day at SL – next up is this Filippa K holdall. Sometimes we get a little stuck on navy bags, so it’s always nice to have a little colour variety. While the R6 duffle could be used for overnight stays, this holdall is built for that purpose, with the shoulder strap ensuring that you’ll still be able to use both hands walking about town. Here’s a little snippet from Nudie’s SS10 collection. Nudie’s been making decent outerwear pieces for a while but this is the first bag we’ve seen from them. We haven’t seen this in person yet, but we’d guess that it’s overnight bag size as opposed to a weekender. The outside zip is a nice touch as well, making sure you won’t have to spend your time fumbling inside your bag for your camera, keys or phone. Available in Nudie stockists from January.
