Red Bull Amsterdam Office by Sid Lee Architecture

Red Bull office1 Red Bull Amsterdam Office by Sid Lee Architecture

Sid Lee Architecture were commissioned to create something a little flashy for Red Bull’s new headquarters in Holland. A former shipbuilding factory, the 875 square metre space is about as far away from your average open-plan as you’d imagine. This is very much a ‘yeah, we hate the rules so don’t try and stick us in a box Grandad’ kind of project.

It’s showy, intent on being ‘rebellious’ but still, undeniably an incredible piece of design. A ‘crash room’, skateboard ramps, geometric caves, mosaic tiled walls, rude toilet signs and airplane wing desks. No doubt the famous beverage on tap, it’s hard to imagine anyone dosing off at work here. More over at Yatzer.

Tonke Campers of Holland

Selectism - Tonke Campers of Holland

When I think of the classic holiday caravan my mind immediately goes to one of my grandmother’s favorite movies The Long, Long Trailer starring Desi Arnaz and Lucille Ball. The movie is an essential not only for the back and forth of married life but for the bad ass long haul caravan they use. It was clearly the caravan of the moment.

Today when I think of caravans, I go directly to the profile that SQUOB has on the Dutch company Tonke Campers. In a nutshell, we’re looking at a modern day eco-friendly camper that is not made from the traditional injection-molded system. Rather, the Tonke Campers are all handbuilt with a craftsmanship once lost in the industry. "Gorgeous polished mahogany fittings provide a pleasing contrast to the teak floors. The sinks are porcelain, and the faucets are chrome. The windows are flat, clear and bright. You can specify solid wood doors and enjoy the view through safety glass, not molded or tinted plastic."

Tonke Campers are a must see and, as expected, they do not come cheap. But if you are lucky enough to be in Europe, feel free to rent a Tonke Camper and live the good life.

More views of the Tonke Camper Series after the jump.
