This layered hoodie from B.son is made from slubby black and white cotton. It features “tall double collars, center zip inner layer, and off center zip and a snap closure outer layer.” Looks great and it is made in the USA. Fine it now at ssense.

Our Berlin office seems to be gushing over this view of Hermes’ calfskin leather and mink hoodie. It is part of their current Autumn/Winter 2009 collection and should suit many of our European readers well – I guess those in NYC could get away with as well. Mink is not for everyone, but what is?

When Kenji mentions a Japanese brand, I tend to listen. He knows Tokyo and the constantly evolving street scene.  Find him out on the daily, and he’ll likely have on an understated piece of apparel procured down some small alley in Tokyo. Of late, we have been discussing the John Bull boutique which happens to be Kenji approved. I am sure he would approved of these classic inspired “Old Atheltic” Zip-up hoodies. I’m having difficulty determining which season this is from but Undercoverism, a line we rarely cover on Selectism, breaks through to me with this sleeveless leather hoodie. Now, it is probably not a garment that I would be able to wear with regularity but the construction and angle of the zips as well as the liner make it proper attire for the motorcyclist looking for a lightweight riding hoodie. B.Son first released this jacket style in AW08 but now they’ve re-released it in a great shade of blue. B.Son have been doing the whole ‘casual fabric-structured tailoring’ thing for a minute now and it seems that fashion in general seems to have caught up, judging from the amount of sweatpants at the last fashion week. We’re a little worried about the amount of spandex in this though. Get this from Context.

We saw the hooded parka in their Spring preview looks and video. The Band of Outsiders patchwork hoodie is available now from retailers like AR. Made in the USA from 100% cotton, the hoodie is a banger with shorts and some proper footwear. Seeing as this one will be a Summer banger, scream “Band of Outsiders!!” when you see the guy next to you rocking it.

Items with removable pieces have always drawn the short straw, so to speak. They’re usually badly made jackets with incredibly flimsy hoods, so it’s great to see someone doing it differently. This Fifth avenue shoe repair jacket has the standard removable hood, but it’s done in a different manner from usual – with the removable hood also having a wrap-around neck piece and a hidden Velcro attachment.
