Someone who left a comment originally pointed this out and we have to wonder, how many names do jogging bottoms have these days? It’s almost like people are trying to give an old item a new name to get rid of the mental associations people have with said old item. For instance, these hope sweatpants are called sweat trousers, presumably to make them sound classier than they are. We’re not fooled. In fact, we like because they’re not classy. (C-Store)

We haven’t featured much Hope on SL (the brand not the feeling) so we thought we’d rectify it by showcasing their latest collection. As you’d expect from an autumn collection it’s rammed with desirable coats and knitted goodness, as you’ll be able to see after the leap.

When is a pink shirt not  a pink shirt? When it’s ‘dirty red’. Despite all the inroads mens’ fashion has made, there’s still a certain camp out there that insist on calling pink anything but pink. It’s 2010 people, there’s no need to be ashamed of the colour anymore. The shirt itself is a handsome one. It’s not a ‘wow’ piece, but it’s a purchase you’ll still be wearing for years to come – something that can’t be said for most fashion forward creations. (Tres Bien)

Following up on our runway preview last summer, we now bring you proper looks from the Hope MAN collection for Spring/Summer 2010. As mentioned previously, “Hope designers Ann Ringstrand and Stefan Söderberg have a simple story in mind for next year’s spring season. With a focus on fashion that is current, yet uncomplicated, the design duo presented a functional collection of tailored separates.”

It’s nice to know someone’s listening. We’ve been championing waxed cotton in all it’s forms for eons and now Hope have launched a new collection, solely dedicated to creating pieces from the material. According to the guys at Hope the wax is ‘advanced silicone wax’, which basically means it can go without the rewaxing that that traditional stuff requires.

Hope co-founder Stefan Söderberg states that the main reason behind the wax wear collection was their “mutual love for classic function in a modernized style. When we started Hope we wanted to find a fabric that could be worn all year
round and work as our basic fabric and waxed cotton is perfect for that”. Due for release at Hope’s online store and selected retailers in mid-November.

Some things are self explanatory. Hope have released a bag and it’s pretty big. So what do you call it? If you’re Hope, you give up the pretense and just call it what it is – a big bag. Aside from being a big bag, it’s made from leather and it’s a nice shade of grey. It looks a little too big for airline carry on restrictions, but it’ll probably hold up to a little beating from the luggage handlers. (Revolve)

Tres Bien takes stock of some wonderful two-tone boots from Hope. “The Charlie Boot is a classic Hope style. Features a five holes lacing with double ski boot loops on top of that. Rough leather sole. The more you walk in your Charlies the better they will look and the more comfortable they will get.”
