Our recent visit to the Ace NYC proved no different—the property embraces a deep history of art, music and design that speaks to New York originality. The Ace perspective on NYC style even shows up in their staff uniforms, compiled from iconic New York staples and thoughtful designer collaborations.

Sydney receives a touch of Danish luxury by way of Thomas Jacobsen’s work on the Beresford Hotel. Transforming the utilitarian spaces, Jacobsen has created a series of inviting areas to rest, dine, and play. Classic pieces of furniture are mixed with new. (via Daily Icon).

Looking for something a bit out of the norm for that next vacation? A mixture of tree house and a deft adaptation of a “gross mechanical object” (that’s collections manager speak for huge things), the airplane suit at Costa Verde Resort in Costa Rica employs the shell of a 1965 Boeing 727. The suite has two rooms and a relaxing looking balcony. (via ArchDaily).

Diesel’s creative director, Wilbert Das, seems to have some free time on his hands and does not let it go to waste. His latest personal project, the UXUA Casa Hotel, is built in the fishing village of Trancoso in the Bahia beach state of Brazil. “UXUA is an exclusive creative retreat, nestled amongst lush tropical gardens on the edge of a stunning coastline….an idyllic environment that is aimed at people that want to create and/or be inspired. They can either stay at UXUA as a quiet working retreat- or for pure unadulterated relaxation.”

Back in August we previewed the Wallpaper* Selects photography commission done in collaboration with art publisher Eyestorm. CR fills us in on the new that collection will now be on display at London’s St. Martins Lane Hotel. The pop-up gallery “will be open to the public from 10-19 December, will showcase ten works by photographers whose work has appeared in Wallpaper* in recent years: Jonathan de Villiers, Mauricio Alejo, Jonathan Frantini, Christopher Griffith, Stefan Ruiz, Daniel Stier, Benedict Redgrove and Joël Tettamanti.”

Ever since opening their first location in Portland, we have been big fans of the Ace Hotel and the concept behind the hotels. Now they are ready to take over the Big Apple and will be arriving soon in New York.
