Hublot Big Bang Watch – Baby Million $$$$$

08 December 2011, 20.30 | Posted in Uncategorized | 2 comments »

Hublot Big Bang Watch - Baby Million $$$

The first of two watches we’ll feature today. We’ll start on the high end; the very reaches of the high end.

While we tend to avoid pushing to many of those Hublot Big Bangs through these pages (seriously, the number of make-ups in the Big Bang now rivals that of Nike’s mid 2000 SB sneaker colorways), we did find one that tops all other Big Bang’s before it.

The Hublot Baby Million is an aggressive baller-style timepiece with more than 440 baguette diamonds and another 422 to accent the hell out of the unit. The bracelet alone rolls in at more than 20 carats. 18 carat white gold behind the scenes as well.

God bless the reader who is contemplating the $302,000 necessary to rock this. We give it the five “$” rating for ridiculous.

Celebrating the debut of the F1 Grand Prix in India, watch maker Hublot delivers a the “F1 King Power” Watch in an edition of 200 unit. “Sporting the famous F1 logo and colours of the Indian flag on its dial and bracelet, the F1 King Power India features several unique aspects made from an array of high-tech materials directly inspired by Formula 1 (some of which have never before been used in watchmaking) such as a ceramic bezel with a circular-grained satin finish adorned with multiple holes to represent a high performance brake disk, a strap made from rubber and Nomex…”

The Hublot Sled

The Hublot Sled

… or sledge to some. Check the carbon fiber on this Hublot sled. It would not be Hublot without a dash of it. Graf worked on this designer ride, which compliments skis and a bicycle which came before it. It’s part of that Hublot collaboration with ECAL’s MAS-Luxe course (Masters in Luxury Design and Industry).  The details: “ash wood for the structure, hand-sewn leather for the seat, carbon fibre for the handles and steel for the runners.” Big ups to the guy rolling through the streets of NYC on this Hublot “gem.”

Hublot Knives and Razor by Jacques-Elie Ribeyron

Hublot Knives and Razor by Jacques-Elie Ribeyron

ECAL (Ecole Cantonale de L’Art de Lausanne) student Jacques-Elie Ribeyron presents his master project of the Mas-Lux program, a mix of industrial and luxury design. The designer created two projects in collaboration with Swiss watch maker Hublot – a knife set and a razor set.

Inspired by the materials and looks of Hublot watches, Jacques-Elie Ribeyron presents some more unusual products with Hublot branding.

“The razors are a manual trimmer, a razor and a shaving brush. The main idea of the project was to take inspiration in the tools that men were using in the early 50’s. Today with commercial products such as mach 3 the ritual of shaving have been lost because of too much functionality. This set is designed to be as simple of possible, using only stainless steel to be recycled after the life cycle of the product. Both can be disassembled easily to be cleaned. The razor works with safety blades such derby or personna. The shaving brush has an angle to let the hairs dry properly.

The Hublot cheese knives were designed to cut some big pieces of hard paste cheese such as Etivaz (Hublot produces its own Etivaz in Switzerland). The set has a cutter and a fork. They come in a sleeve to be carried easily. The blades are made of stainless steel with a pvd treatment for the black color. Handles are mad of anodized aluminum and the Hublot screws of stainless too.”

The two projects have won the Prix d’exellence at ECAL and we could not agree more.

Detailed images of the Hublot Knives and Razors follow after the jump.

Hublot Liberty Bullet

Selectism - Hublot Liberty Bullet

I have told myself many times that I will not post another Big Bang on Selectism. I stand by that.

But Hublot is doing more inside their company than developing new colorways for the BB. Perpetuelle points us at this Hublot “bullet” as seen at Baselworld 2010. “What we have here is a reinterpretation of the pocket watch in the form of a gun cartridge, poetically christened ‘Liberty’ and housing a Tourbillon.  These bullets can be worn on a bracelet or as a pendant or I suppose even carried in one’s pocket.  They are constructed with a titanium bullet head and black aluminum base.   As you can see, the time display is a roller display.  ’Whether your desire is to save time, let it slip by or even kill it…’” #fyeah

Hublot Aero Bang Drive ACF Watch

Selectism - Hublot Aero Bang Drive ACF Watch

This cold very well be the last Big Bang of the year. We love this model and their desire to help world collectors by introducing multiple variations and limited editions of their Bang series. The Aero Bang Drive ACF Watch features  a microblasted black ceramic case measuring 44.5mm. It has an AR-coated sapphire crystal and is water resistant to 100 meters. “The rotor is tungsten carbide with black PVD treatment.” A ‘banger’ for sure. 250 units are being produced. (timezone)

Hublot Selfridges Big Bang Chronograph

hublot big bang selfridges Hublot Selfridges Big Bang Chronograph

First, let me tell you how they put it. “Hublot is delighted to announce their special Limited Edition ‘Selfridges Big Bang’ timepiece, forming part of the Big Bang range, in celebration of Selfridges centenary year in the retail business. This new partnership honors not only a century of business but also a shared understanding and love of exceptional timepieces.” What’s missing from this description is that the Big Bang is available in an extremely limited run of ten unit, which can be interpreted as “friends and family” at best. That aside, it is a gem with the Selfridges Pantone 109C.

Hublot lines up the power collaborations with this 100year banger (literally) with Uk car maker Charles Morgan. The usual quality control comes with the Hublot who plan on pumping out 100 units of this Morgan Aero Bang model – 44.5mm casing, sapphire crystal glass, black ceramic finish – you get it all. The question is can you get your hands on one? One of our favorite Bangs to date. (stundenzeiger)

Hublot One Million Dollar Black Caviar Bang

hublot one million dollar black caviar bang Hublot One Million Dollar Black Caviar Bang

If I was allowed to use large figurative profane words, they still would not describe the monster of a one off Switzerland’s Hublot has pulled out of their little factory. The Hublot Black Caviar Bang is simply nasty on few levels. The casing and bezel are made from 18kt white gold and house exactly 501 black diamonds. 30 more black diamonds lace up the black rubber bracelet. They tossed in a “Hublot caliber HUB Solo T, a 1 minute Tourbillon Volant” movement and a 120hour power reserve. Who’s gonna top this one? Bang on Hublot. (via tz)

Hublot Red Devil Bang Chronograph

04 November 2008, 21.22 | Posted in Watches | 1 comment »

hublot manchester united big bang watch front Hublot Red Devil Bang Chronograph

The Hublot Big Bang Chronograph series is one of those special watch collections that goes beyond words. To see the details in the Big Bang is to understand the complexity and detailing that goes into not only the movement of a timepiece but the housing. Hublot watches, pure and simple, are stunning at first glance.

Logical steps were in place when Hublot took ownership of the timekeeping during the Euro 2008 Cup in Switzerland and Austria. The brand needed to showcase the internal precision of their chronographs with a public event that would put them in stage class like others. Tag Heuer for F1, Omega for Olympics, Rolex for Wimbeldon.

Now Hublot is pushing further into football/soccer as the official timekeepers for England’s Manchester United club. To celebrate the event, they have issues the Hublot Red Devil Bang. Fashioned in the team’s colours, black, red, and yellow, the Red Devil Bang also includes a 45 minute counter half counter. A great feature for the footie fan. Another great unique look from Hublot.
