Garage, the Center for Contemporary Culture and magazine gets in a little collaborative work with the Illesteva sunglass line. Portions of the proceeds go to a worthy cause: Restoring Vision, which since 2003 has supplied glasses to over 1.3 million people in need. The frames are available in two colorways: tortoise and light tortoise with a retail price of $295.

The ‘Leonard’ is without a doubt the most popular silhouette in the Illesteva Collection. For Spring/Summer 2011 the sunglasses return in several new colorways, along with some popular old ones. The bi tonal tortoise/clear and pale yellow styles are our personal favorites of the season. Soto Berlin has overall 4 new colorways of the Illesteva ‘Leonard’ in stock now.

The Albert frames from Illesteva work to push the thickness of modern eyewear. For one thing, they’re thicker than most sunglasses with a lens this small – which makes them unique in some regard. More importantly they’re hand-made in France, and you know the French… Available in tortoise of red stone.

Paz again. She’s just incredible. Tough to not put her up when she is wearing a pair of Illesteva’s Spring 2011 sunglasses. Not much more to say expect that they’re unisex so you’re girl or boy will be sharing pairs with you. The collection is drastic at times but we’re sure you’ll find something in there for you.

Illesteva drops their new lookbook for public view. The NY/MIA/GVA based sunglass line had added new materials for the Fall 2010 season including bamboo woods and titanium. The lookbook was shot during travels through the Mediterranean Sea. God knows where seeing as it’s a massive coast. Your guess is as good as ours.

We’re not done with the World Cup yet! “In celebration of the Final Stages of the World Cup, Illesteva and Opening Ceremony got together to release a World Cup Finals Collection ‘Illesteva for Opening Ceremony’ will include 5 pairs of Sunglasses inspired by the colors of the last 5 World Cup Winners Brazil, Italy, Germany, Argentina and France. They will be limited to pairs of 4 , 6, 6, 6, 4 respectively to honor Nelson Mandela. 46664 was his prison number when he was imprisoned on Robben Island in South Africa.”

Tomorrow all you hippies will make your way onto the Polo Grounds of Indio for the start of Coachella (yes, I wish I was a hippie and with you). We’re pretty sure that Sunday is the beast of the three-way, but hell, LCD will demo it tomorrow night. Back to the news, Illesteva drops a special “Coachella Survival Pack” of sunglasses for the show. Unless you already have on eyeglasses, you’ll need them (sans any weather issues). Launching during Paris Mens Week in June, these Corto Moltedo for Illesteva Sunglasses.

The first in a series, Corto Moltedo’s debut piece is “FRIEDA”, a circular shaped frame with smokey mirrored lenses, handcrafted in Germany using a special blend of acetate.  The inspiration behind “FRIEDA” is Havana, Cuba in 1950’s when it was called the “Latin Las Vegas”.  FRIEDA’s Natural Marmor Acetate color way will be exclusively available at Corto Moltedo’s flagship store at the Palais Royal in Paris
