Only the cover is out right now but we will be sure to show some spreads when they surface.

Folk Store Munich

selectism - Folk Store Munich

Folk stores are often better, in my opinion, than the brands garments. Both, to be sure, share a quirky take on the stripped down contemporary aesthetic. The spaces and the garments, then, are at least neatly balanced.

Folk has recently opened a new retail space in Munich. Much like their London location, it is a exercise in transforming the dull elements of menswear shops – the metal tubing, simple shelving, random wood accent – into something with a bit of warmth. Shall we say they’ve mastered adding an element of rustic sophistication to a now overdone formula.

Frame caught some images from the shop.

'La Suite Elle Decoration' by Jean-Paul-Gaultier

After Christian Lacroix and Martin Margiela, it was the turn of French fashion designer Jean-Paul Gaultier to re-design the former apartment of famed French architect Jacque Carlu. The designer used his signature nautical stripe design all over the apartment, resulting in a very interesting and actually beautiful monochromatic look. The apartment is situated right in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris and is certainly worth a visit on your next Paris trip. Rumors are going around that Gaultier is already working on an on-going interior collection, something that we can hopefully tell you more about soon.

More images of ‘La Suite Elle Decoration’ by Jean-Paul-Gaultier follow after the jump.

CASULO – Room in a Box

Selectism - Casulo Room in a Box

For some men, getting kicked out of their partner’s flat is about as rough as it gets. They tend to be dependent partners to feed, clean, and coddle when necessary. Its sad sometimes.

So when they get tossed on their asses, back onto the streets for being themselves, the first thing they need to do is quickly find new digs and furnish.

Trolling Craigslist to find some furnishings sucks on a short timetable.

CASULO has come up with a solution, albeit something considered more temporary than anything. They have somehow managed to cram a full room worth of furniture info a 90 x 120cm box. Yes, that photo above is it.

What you’ll find inside is simply unbelievable really: a desk (adjustable), deskchair, cabinet, wardrobe, two stools, and the most important element of a manroom, a bed with mattress (take that!).

This YouTube video shows how to build out the CASULO is less than seven minutes. Leaves you plenty of time to figure out where to get some food.

More photos and views after the jump.
