Spanish brand Antiatoms are doing great things with leather at the moment, this iPad case a great example of their work. We’ve seen this envelope design in more substantial fabrics before, Postalco immediately comes to mind, and are more than happy to see it here again, done with such skill. Made by third generation craftsmen in Southern Spain, Antiatoms keeps the design as simple as possible – tan leather, tan fastenings with cord to keep it all together. Find it here.

Two handsome iPad cases from Isaac Reina here, and we are smitten with the minimalism expressed. Both of these folder-style cases close with elastic bands positioned at the corners, with one going the extra mile and folding over your beloved tablet at the sides and bottom. The less tech of the two just holds your pad like a tough leather taco. These are handmade in France. Por Vocação has them.

We are fond of Connecticut and are fond of Ghurka—a bag-maker in the vintage British tradition based in The Nutmeg State. Our appreciation for the company has more to do with the look and quality of their wares than their whereabouts, however. The origin story goes that in the early 1970s, Founder Marley Hodgson, “fueled by his love of history and leather craft, bid to win on campaign gear once owned by a regimental officer of the British Ghurkas stationed in India during the early 1900s.”

The workmanship and quality of the leather inspired him to create work and travel gear accordingly. Here’s a look at some of that gear, where timeless construction meets modern needs. (That’s our fancy way of saying Ghurka makes iPad cases lined with fine shirting fabric.)

More felt goodness for all things iPad from the hardgraft company. Their new 2Point Turn iPad Case is a felt take on the Apple Smart Cover. They list theirs as a “trademark hard graft design” made from the finest felt wool and Italian leather trims. double wool thickness make this a pretty handsome little cover hardgraft.

Hand-crafted in the city with big chilly shoulders, Defy Bags are made from vintage materials with a creative attention to detail. Case in point, the body of the First Class SM bag pictured after the jump is reclaimed military canvas trimmed with reclaimed bicycle tire tubes.

The iPad sleeve pictured above is a handsome bastard crafted with the aesthetic simplicity of the thing it’s meant to hold firmly in mind. Hand cut leather is hand stitched to quite a nice effect. Available here.

Mark Farhat designs his second collection for luxury Italian accessory brand Mark/Giusti. The Palatina Chapel in Palermo provides inspiration for the line, most clearly visible in the amazing linings based on the Norman-byzantine mosaic tiles that cover its walls. A touch which elevates this from your standard upmarket carrier collection.

Grained calf leather forms laptop carriers, suit bags, ipad cases and wallets available in black or tan. Some pieces feature locks, others intricate internal pocket set-ups, presumably to encourage you to keep opening your bag and flash that colourful lining. A top selection of pieces from one of those hidden brands you occasionally stumble over. More info at Behance.

We take a look at Spring Summer from Hasso. Based in Bogota, Columbia, the line has been going strong for three years. Nicholas Hurtado and Andrés Niño  “wanted a label with a strong focus on design, top quality materials and accurate craftsmanship”. Ipad cases, totes, messenger bags and backpacks, they describe “We create sophisticated, cleverly designed and refined products, yet durable and convenient for the present urban needs. All of our products are remarkably crafted by master artisans in Bogotá, Colombia.” The Significant Other tells us more.

iPads require a lot of putting in and taking out of a case. If this is an action you often find yourself doing in public then I guess buying yourself a fancy case just makes good sense. This one from Steve Mono is very simple and as a result, very stylish. The blue calf leather is a pretty spot on shade and the envelope design is right up our street. Far Fetch has it.

Smythson’s croc-skin iPad case will not break the bank as hard as one would suspect. At $375 it is far less than other luxury iPad cases but still above the mark for many. Break-in will show that this case will last some time. Mr. Porter has it.
