There’s no shortage of cases and stands for Apple’s iPad—we’ve featured a number of them here. Yet, some of us at Selectism choose to go caseless. (Those designers hidden in the dark labs of Cuptertino didn’t design the iPad to feel so nice in your hands for nothing.) Still, there are plenty of times when the iPad needs some additional support: when you want to watch a movie, or give it a more comfortable typing angle.

magneticNorth’s MoviePeg is a simple, nicely designed solution that’s a great iPad compliment. The MoviePeg is two pieces of molded plastic that slide onto each side of the iPad. Depending on where they’re connected, they keep the iPad at a high angle for viewing, or a lower angle for typing. Florida’s Makr comes through with one of the better iPad cases on the market. Two shades of leather are available for the cases which feature a distinct front close. Handmade in the U.S.A. and available for pre-order on Makr

The iPad market takes another step in the very high end with Tod’s take on the modern day device. As Luxist tells us. “Famed Italian luxury goods firm Tod’s is offering world’s most expensive iPad case, which in this case is actually in excellent taste. The luxurious case, finished in genuine alligator, is priced at $4,900 – almost ten times the cost of Apple’s un-embellished 16GB iPad itself. The one-of-a-kind accessory is handmade in Italy from the world’s finest grade alligator skin, and will be available in brown, blue and tan from Tod’s boutiques worldwide beginning in November.”

Swiss brand Freitag has introduced their F23 iPad Sleeve. Since the sleeve, just like the rest of the collection, is made of recycled truck covers, not one is the same as the other. They come in a variety of colors and patterns and are now available at Freitag retailers.

Parabellum is catching the buyer’s eyes at some of the more high profile boutiques in the USA. The (free range) bison leather gives them a very distinct look – including on this iPad folio which also includes lambskin on the inner lining. The vertical two snap closure is a nice finish.

Dunhill preps a small folio of sorts for the iPad. Coming in Spring 2011 is this wonderful sleeve cover for your beloved machine. “Shown in paris back in june. the cover is printed with a letter addressed to ‘alfred dunhill’, along with 2 blue lines to look like the letter’s been strapped in.” (00o00)

J. Fold had a few new tricks up the sleeve at (capsule) NY, including this waxed canvas Ipad Case. We’re showing it in gray, but green is also an option. The piece comes out of a collection of paired down bags designed to protect your electrical goods simply and with style.

It is nice to see some simple iPad cases hitting the streets which work more like a foilio than a daybag.
