Perpetuelle leads with a look at this special Volvo Ocean Race edition of the UWC Portguese Yacht Club chrono. A few things make this Volvo Ocean Race edition special: the first titanium case on this model as well as a black carbon fiber dial. While we carbon fiber is over-played, the overall finish on this chrono is strong. Finished in a 45mm titanium case.

IWC unveiled their latest chronograph, Ingenieur Double Chronograph Titanium. The “rattrapante” chronograph, also know as a split-seconds chrono, allows for the owner to measure two events simultaneously. The titanium case is lightweight and measures in at 45mm. The screws are coated in black DLC while the pushers and crown are covered in black rubber. Coming soon… (pw)

Limited to 250 pieces, the IWC Big Pilots watch will be exclusively available at IWC boutiques in Los Angles and Las Vegas. “Movement is the Swiss automatic IWC in-house caliber 51614 with Pellaton winding system and a power reserve of 7 days. The moon phase display of the Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar Limited Edition 2010 deviates from the actual state of the moon by just 12 seconds in each lunar period. In other words, the discrepancy amounts to just one day in 577 years. All the calendar displays such as the date, day, month, year, decade and century, as well as the moon phase display – which is advanced by the weekday star wheel – are based on an ingenious form of synchronization. All the displays are advanced automatically and take every leap day in the Gregorian calendar into account until 2100, without any need for further adjustment.” (via Timezone).

A new model from the IWC family bring a slight lift for their Ingenieur model. The new Ingenieur Mission Earth Edition pays homage to the Plastiki catamaran that sailed across the Pacific. The watch features a 46mm face and a beautiful blue band. IWC was of course the official partner of the Plastiki voyage. (tz)

The second hand on the new IWC Montre d’Aviateur Chronographe Edition Patrouille Suisse is a sight to be seen. Produced specifically for the Swiss market and limited to 300 units, the IWC Montre d’Aviateur Chronographe celebrated the daredevil air acrobatic arm of the Swiss Air Force.

IWC drops an excellent Aquatimer edition for the world famous Jacques-Yves Cousteau. The best part of the watch may actually lie on the back case where the famous champion of the ocean world’s face is etched. An incredibly classy pieces of metal. “The case, in stainless steel, measures 44mm x 15mm. It has an AR-coated sapphire crystal and is water resistant to 120 meters.” (timezone)

IWC is back with their second Zinedine Zidane signature watch. “The first IWC Ingenieur for the now retired soccer superstar was issued in 2008 and limited to 1000 pieces. This new 2010 IWC Zidane Big Ingenieur “refresh” is done with a dark brown dial / brown strap, and this time limited to 500 pieces. According to IWC, Zidane was personally involved in the colour scheme and individualization of the Big Ingenieur dedicated to him.” I still prefer the blue of the 2008 edition. (perpetuelle)

Two new models of th classic IWC Portuguese look to be on their way to market. As reported by Perpetuelle, a “red gold chronograph,” and a beautiful silver dial “automatic” should arrive soon. On the Automatic, they say, “This watch has a highly polished steel case with a silver dial and gold hand markers.  Like other variations in this collection, its has a 42mm case, classical small seconds hand and seven-day power reserve display. This movement in this watch is IWC’s largest automatic movement on the market, the IWC Caliber 51011 calibre, with IWC’s exclusive Pellaton winding system, and 7 day power reserve.”  Price is about $13,500.
