We grew up as vetted-skate-brand-only hardliners, but have softened quite a bit over the years where sidewalk surfing is concerned. So a rush of premium decks from designers we admire is just fantastic. Most of them have shapes closer to ’70s cruising boards than modern decks, which works well for us, too, as we are too old for jumping down stairs.

This limited edition set from James Perse delivers two complete set-ups, each featuring a deck handcrafted from solid walnut planks. Sleeves are batter-up contrast grey and the whole thing is silky as banana peels thanks to a softener added during the dye process.

We pulled this one from the James Perse Resort collection for me. This heathered funnel-neck sweatshirt is made in Los Angeles, as much of the Perse collection. The sweatshirt features a loose funnel neck kangaroo jump pocket on the front and a raw edge detail on the cuff.

At $175, this sweatshirt is on the higher end of the spectrum, but well worth. Perse is known for killer basics. This is no exception. Think comfort, softness, and a premium casual garment. Find James Perse online.

Our friends at James Perse continues their great work with the Seavees line of footwear. Their latest work comes in the form of a brush suede lace-up court shoe; a slight change from the Perse/Seavees slip-on offering. California 60’s style remains the theme. It is blended from a mix of 24% Linen, 46% Viscose for a highly soft to touch feel. Raglan sleeves finish it off. Be sure to dry clean only. Hits you at $250 from Perse. Well worth the money.
