Selectism - james-small-spring-2012-01

We know the focus at James Small’s shows will be on who attended – We heard some Mosses were involved – but the collection doesn’t need the celeb cosign. After all, with shedloads of sheer, patterned shirts and trousers we’d roll up on Ray J for, it’s filled with stuff we wish we had in our wardrobe.

Take a leap, see the rest.

James Small Autumn 2011 Close-Ups

Selectism - james-small-01

Style Salvage (or Savage, they’re really not fussy about their name) have just posted up a very nice interview with James Small alongside some enticing close up shots of the clothes. An interesting answer was when they talk about how civil war influenced the collection:

“When people hear about the influence of the Civil War, they tend to expect more obvious references within the collection but I didn’t want it to feel like costume. There are a couple of pieces in the collection that are directly related to the period, for example the Civil War Bolero, the Cavalry jacket and the Civil War trouser that are just great and haven’t been exaggerated at all. However, most of it is just influenced by this ragamuffin mood.”

Read the full feature here and take a leap to see a couple more close up shots.

Selectism - James-Small-autumn-2011-01

Although it’s been a week since menswear day, we thought we’d let the torrent of LFW stuff slow down before we put up this Q&A with James Small. We caught up with him right after the show but he was nice enough to answer our questions. Take  leap to see his answers and his look book.

Selectism - James Small Autumn/Winter 2010 Runway

James Small came charging through the gates of London Fashion Week with his menswear day show. The former assistant to Kim Jones also employed a deep arsenal of celebs to transpot at his show. The good thing is that the line was well worth the looks. James Small clearly takes strong influence from his home country’s heritage; all the while providing new styles fit for all gents. (change)

More looks from James Small Autumn/Winter 2010 runway show after the click.
