Joe McCoy, part of The Real McCoy’s label, did a disappearing act in 2001 much to the annoyance of its legion of fans. However after a sizeable break it recently made a triumphant return. Focusing on athletic and work wear, it also continues its line of denim, thought to be some of the best on the market. Jeans aside here we have their Denim Western Wash shirt. Pre faded denim can often end up looking, not to put too fine a point on it, ridiculous. However, done subtly and in the right places it takes the shiny, brand new edges off a garment. As Superdenim points out this model is similar to their recent Wrangler repro, pearl studs, chainstitched, their online shop is the only retailer outside of Japan to sell these. Western fans will be keen on the following vests from The Joe McCoy. “Classic design of the original down vest worn by cowboys in the 60’s and 70’s. The vest is filled with goose down for the best insulation. The outer is cotton with a 6/40 lining on the inside. The highlight has to be the horse hide yolk, incredibly tough and rigid, you can feel the quality as soon as you slip it on. Chicago’s own Joe McCoy brand comes through with a banger of a vest for the Autumn/Winter market. The deer skin vest is “tanned with natural vegetable tanning process and colored with aniline for the main body . Horse hide used for chest patches.” Those willing to plunge into this beauty will be sure they’re not in the same class as those North Face lovers (nothing wrong with them though). (superdenim)
