We could all do with a few more chunky knits in our lives. They’re one of those non-essential essentials than fashion loves. A known unknown or, if you like speaking plain english, something you want but don’t need. We’ve also heard that chunky cream knits are a prime candidate for partner thievery this season, so watch your back. Hunting & Collecting has it.

We’re were going to make a melange/Solange Knowles wordplay joke but we feel it’d be too obscure even for our rather obscure tastes. You’ll have to make do with this lovely jumper, which is more than enough to make up for one aborted joke. You’ll have to buy it yourself though, we’re not that generous – even on thanksgiving. Not got enough digital camo in your life? Of course you haven’t. Which is why we’re recommending this jumper. Ideally we’d wear it to battle and impress our fellow soldiers with our next level camouflage. Failing that, we’ll wear it to work and hope someone notices how great our jumper is. To paraphrase a great scholar, this is some givenchy worth getting raunchy for. Leather sleeves are a thing at the moment, but don’t let that put you off. This is a half recommendation, as we think this jumper’s good but not great. We’re no designers but we can’t help but think that this would’ve been better off as a knitted baseball jacket. Remember a few years ago when people weren’t sure what neckline they wanted on their jumper? We don’t blame you if you don’t, the crew neck won that fight so resoundingly you’d be forgiven for thinking it was the only option out there. As for us? We can’t turn down a 2 for 1 deal, especially when it’s by one of our favourite new brands Monsieur Lacenaire. They’ve made this reversible jumper which, before anyone asks, counts as a 2 for 1 offer. And hey, we’ve all seen the news, if you’re gonna spend money on new stuff it might as well be stuff you can turn inside out and wear on consecutive days. We’ve always liked Peter Jensen’s menswear, seeing it as much closer to casual streetwear than crazy fashion. Take this jumper for example, it’s perfectly wearable, especially if you’re not still weird about wearing pink. If you are, just call it washed red. You know what? We’re really getting into Marni. We wouldn’t go as far as calling ourselves ‘Marni men’ or anything similarly silly but, after overdosing on mid-range brands, it’s time for us to go a little high end. There’s something a bit odd about wearing something  your granddad wore. It’s even weirder when you go on the tube and see an elderly fellow wearing an extremely similar jumper to you – something that’s happened to us more than once. Now you can join in the fun with this White Mountaineering jumper. Just don’t let granddad get his hands on it, you’ll never get it back. (End)

We never thought we’d see the day when we get anally retentive about crewneck jumpers. It’s a simple enough formula to get right (in the grand scheme of things of course – we do appreciate that all fashion is hard to get right) so why are so many people overdoing it with the elbow patches? We liked it in moderation but too much of anything can hurt you. This jumper’s a tad more tasteful than most elbow patch ridden numbers and it’s still got that crewneck thing going on that everyone loves. It’s a win win. (Opening Ceremony)
