The mothership reports in on the new Junya Watanabe “ready to wear” collection for Fall 2009.
Junya Watanabe has been one of our favorite designers in years now. His mix of traditional workwear and up to date fabrics and colors was always appealing to us. Here we take a first look at the Junya Watanabe MAN Fall 2009 Collection and once again we cannot wait for winter to come.
The hunting theme is apparent and a lot of traditional British jackets also appear in the collection. Of course always with that special Watanabe touch. Overall the line looks really smart and sophisticated, but it seems to be a line that is also easy to wear and to relate to. (via WWD).

If, like everyone else, you fell in love with Junya Watanabe’s letterman jacket/blazer hybrid last year, you’re in luck. Browns have one of the jackets in their sale, although it’s only in a small. The styling’s a little off in the picture, but we assume you can ignore that and take the blazer on its own merits. Get it from Browns.
With winter showing no end in sight, we present you with some looks from Junya Watanabe’s Man Spring 2009 Collection. Our fam over at HS says this on the collection. “We enjoy the mix of safari wear, work wear and even smart styles that remind of Thom Browne. There are lots of dressy shorts in the collection, long pants are in general rolled up. The blazers certainly stand out and the overall look works very well. Next seasons collaborators include Brooks Brothers, Levi’s, Lacoste and new this season also Baracuta. As usual something to look out for.” (images via men.style)

I think we have just found our favorite hats so far for the Fall/Winter 2008 season. Junya Watanabe has just come out with these Cord Trilby Hats. They come in two colorways.
The combination of the classic silhouette, warm cord upper, check lining and then the poppy ribbon colors is just perfect and gives the classic hat a nice modern appeal.
The Junya Watanabe Cord Trilby Hats are now in stock at Browns.
Yet another great collaboration comes this season from Junya Watanabe and as expected the designer chose to work with the best possible partner for a duffle coat – with Gloverall.
The navy blue duffle coat comes with all the classic features that you would expect, including the closing, plaid lining and hood. A nice addition to the classic are the leather patches on the shoulders and the elbows.
The Junya Wanabe x Gloverall Duffle Coat is now available at Reinforce.
On July 19th the new eYe Junya Watanabe Comme Des Garcons flagship store in Hong Kong opened its doors. Situated at 22 Wyndham Street, the store is close to Visvim, Neighborhood/Wtaps, BBC/Ice Cream and the Comme Des Garcons flagship store in Hong Kong.
Yet another Japanese brand that goes to Hong Kong, making it an even more attractive shopping destination. Via I.T.
Comme Des Garcons has collaborated with Brooks Brothers Japan for fall/winter 2008. The classic Brooks Brothers blazer get the Japanese treatment with a higher finishing with classic gold buttons with the Brooks Brothers logo. Available now at Reinforce.

We will not show you the complete collection here, just a jacket that is not leaving ourheads ever since we saw it a couple of months ago. And since Fall collections are getting into stores soon, it is certainly not too early to start thinking about this.
Junya Watanabe always manages to fuse styles, get inspired by classics and re-interpritate them, thus this Blazer x Varsity Jacket from his upcoming collection perfectly illustrates those skills. A Blazer body with Varsity Jacket pockets and sleeves. Just amazing! (Pic via Style.com)
The Comme Des Garcons x Fred Perry collaboration comes to an end this year, but Junya Watanabe carries on to work with Lacoste on their classic polo. As part of the Junya Watanabe MAN Spring/Summer 2008 collection these 4 polo shirts have been released.
The yellow and pink one look very similar to the Lacoste in-line products. More special are the red and blue one, that come with an updated tonal logo.
We take a quick first look at the collections of our favorite designers. The Fall/Winter ‘08 shows are finished and already now you can see what you will be wearing in about 6 months time!
First up is Dsquared. The Canadian designer twins, living in Milan, continue to deliver sharp looks. When in the beginning the fleece line was interesting, we find that rather boring now, but their tailored collection has gotten really good! Sharp cuts and interesting twists also in the upcoming seasons!
Junya Watanabe presents interesting looks. English classics mixed with American classics and of course as usual very experiemental cuts!
Fantastic new Kris Van Aasche collection. We do not like what he did for the new Dior Homme line, but his own label is looking really good. The grey suite with the denim shirt works!
Above you see the fastest growing brand in the Gucci Group – Bottega Veneta. They have set new standards in quality, just unbelievable. The warm brown and beige colors of their collections are almost a signature for the brand and the mens collection is looking really good. If just the prices would look that good too?!
Comme des Garcons once again plays with the tartan patterns and as usual it works for them. The blazer with the pants is great, the shoes less!
Viktor & Rolf, the Dutch superstar designers, present as usual an interesting collection and of course the models wear hats. They also make nice casual clothes actually, what most people never get to see! On your next Milan trip, make sure to check out their store, its entirely upside down!
Number (N)ine has been a little disappointing the past couple of seasons. The Fall/Winter 2008 collection makes us hope again. More color, while keeping their style. Lots of leather and inspiration from the countryside.
Band Of Outsiders has become a favorite of ours. The young NYC brand has been very successful since its creation and continues to present strong collections. We look forward to the bright future of the brand!
Lanvin came back from the dead since they present a Pret-A-Porter collection. Unfortunately its still super hard to come by. Great suits, but also the cashmere and sneakers are a favorite.
And last but not least Rag & Bone. Once a small insider brand, they have become a major player. We still love their collections, which stay all in all very solid and also wearable.
