Pitti Uomo brought our first views of the Autum/Winter 2009 footwear collection from Kris Van Assche. The Belgian designer has produced more than 30 new styles for collection, with silhouettes ranging from military inspired boots to hi-top sneakers. Mr. Assche is taking full advantage of his new relationship with Italy’s Manifattura Ferrarese, known for their production and distribution work for many of LVMH’s men’s footwear lines. Clearly the relationship is yielding strong results for Autumn/Winter.

Many more detailed views of Kris Van Assche Footwear for Autumn/Winter 2009 after the jump.

Kris Van Assche Floral T-Shirt

The floral look is one that’s forever bubbling near the surface, mainly because it’s slightly too eurotrash-y for most people to get their heads round. This Kris Van Assche shirt has a floral design has a subdued look due to the subtle colouring. As you’d expect, the cotton is incredibly soft and the cuffs are turned up. Get it from Luisaviaroma.

Kris Van Assche Blazer

Blazers have been creeping back into menswear for a while now and spring looks like the season when blazers move from an extravagant choice to a staple one. This Kris Van Assche blazer is a prime example of the next level of blazers, which look to step away slightly from the college tutor look of old. It’s made with soft cotton, allowing the blazer to be worn in warmer weather – which is a vital aspect some designers overlook for a SS09 collection. Get it from Colette.

Kris Van Assche High Tops

Designers seem to be treating the name ‘high top’ as a dare, continually creating trainers that go higher and higher up the leg. These Kris Van Assche high tops are almost as high as the Diet Butcher Slim Skin ones we featured a while back and this doesn’t look like it’s going to stop until someone makes a pair of knee high trainers. Although these are noted as SS09 trainers by KVA and other websites, The Corner has apparently fooled someone at KVA into giving it to them early as they have these in black, grey and white already. Get it from the corner.

While his work with Dior Homme has been hit and miss, Kris Van Assche’s own line looks to be going from strength to strength. His SS09 accessories line is comprised of an array of belts, chains and, weirdly, bucket hats. While the chains will definitely be a little too feminine for some, the belts look like a sure winner. Not sure about the bucket hats though, Ricky Hatton has ruined the idea of that hat becoming a high fashion piece. Take a look at the rest of the collection after the jump.

Dior Homme S/S ‘08 – Radical Elegance

07 January 2008, 18.54 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

Hedi Slimane has made Dior Homme what it stands for today. Since he left, Kris Van Aasche has taken over and present his first collection soon.

““They look like young professional killers,” quipped Karl Lagerfeld, who shot three models in a Parisian apartment wearing Van Assche’s ballooning, high-waist pants and pristine white shirts.

Van Assche described the images, which break in February magazines, as the “next step” for the brand—rather than a radical change—in its post–Hedi Slimane era. A budding photographer, Slimane lensed recent Dior Homme campaigns and favored an edgy, artsy approach.

“When one evokes ‘elegance,’ people tend to think you refer to something old-fashioned, boring,” Van Assche said. “I am totally aware that we are living in a sportswear generation, but I feel it is my duty—at Dior Homme even more so than at my own label—to propose an alternative. … I prefer to look at it as a challenge: Make elegance radical.””

DNR has an interesting article about the new collection. We cannot wait to see if live!
