Ever wanted to turn your favourite item of clothing into a lamp? No? Well now you can, with this Droog clothes hanger lamp. We’re not sure how well it will work if you’re favoured piece is a heavy knit cardigan but we’re sure the light will shine through items like shirts and so on. Continuing our ongoing pursuit of the cool search for nice stuff, we came across this lamp. It could be seen as a comment on the world as it is today, or a comment on how light is destroying us all. Or it could just be a nice lamp. (Yanko)

Supported by a coated triangular base, the brass creates great contrast with the black and white surface options of both base and shade. Designed for Swedish lighting manufacturers Örsjö Belysning. Back has also produced a smaller table lamp, which may have more application for most folks.”

Being as I like bicycles as much as I like light, Cho Hyung Suk’s B-Chain Lamp gets a nod of approval. The chain based design allows for flexibility in the lamp’s structure – i.e. it is adjustable – as well as providing the aesthetic ques. The lamp is available in both red and white.

If you read Selectism on a regular basis, you’ll know we’re all about the quirky design pieces. Give us a lamp that looks good and we’re happy – regardless of whether they work or not.  This design code lamp ticks all our boxes. It’ll add some quirk to any room, it comes in various colours and, most importantly, it’s pretty. It’s also at a reasonable price of 45 Euros. We couldn’t ask for more. (DesignCode)

As much as we love our functional designs, we do enjoy a quirky piece from time to time. Take this reading light for instance. Is it practical? no. Is it functional? not really. But it is fun.
