Win This! | Selectism Drink Coasters – Giving Away a Bunch of Sets

18 February 2012, 23.37 | Posted in Art, Design | No comments »

Selectism Drink Coasters

It is Saturday afternoon here on the East Coast and we’re wasting the day by tidying up the office. In the process we found a few more sets of our Titelmedia drink coasters (in case you did not know, Titelmedia is Highsnobiety, Snobette, Radcollector, Lilsnob, and us).

They make a perfect addition to your coffee table, bar, or just about anywhere you want to lay down your beverage. For the letterpress nerds: each coaster was hand stamped and printed by Repeat Press.

There are two ways to win a set of the coasters:

1. head over to Facebook and LIKE the Selectism page and this contest post.
2. or follow SELECTISM on Instagram for even better odds of winning.

Good luck all.

Selectism - movable-type-01

The new project from Kyle Durrie of Power and Light Press, is called movable type. It’s a ronseal project, essentially it’s a van that’s been converted into a letterpress studio. It’ll be travelling around the US giving workshops and demonstrations. There’s even a map to see where it’ll land next. (Crap=Good)

Old Try Print Shop

Old Try Print Shop

Old Try is a print shop run by Micah and Marianna, a couple of Southerners (North Carolina and Alabama to be exact) who now find themselves living and working in Boston. In an attempt to bring a piece of home to the North they began to design letterpress posters, the themes and images all relating to their much missed hometowns with everything ‘printed on old machines with moveable type and wood blocks, just like what would have been used a hundred years ago’. Find them at Old Try.

Curated turns us onto this:

“Admittedly, this is light fare. However, the one line greetings and suggestions are nothing short of amusing. Thanks to BBC for the heads up.”

selectism - pancake and franks

Pancake & Franks, run by Stacy Pancake, makes superb recycled letterpress greeting cards in San Francisco, CA. Given that we like both letterpress and small companies that strive for sustainability, our interest is natural. Also natural is our love of old fashioned correspondence. A box set from Pancake & Franks will gear you up for several birthdays, thank yous, and perhaps the odd “I Love You.”

View all box set options after the jump. (For added enjoyment, some of our favorite P&F greeting cards are tossed in too).

Selectism - lego-letterpress-01

You know that feeling you get when you see something you had no idea you wanted but now you’ve seen it you can’t imagine living without it? That’s how we feel about Lego Letterpress. Our walls currently feel bare without a lego print on them. But then again, we’re probably just odd. There’s still some left on Physical Fiction so we’d advise getting there before we do. 2011 Lunar Calendar by Dhadwal and Repeat Press

2011 Lunar Calendar by Dhadwal and Repeat Press

Our friends at Repeat worked this lunar calendar. I love circle posters. “This is a 2011 lunar calendar designed by Amar Dhadwal and printed by Mike Dacey of Repeat Press. The calendar features a graphic representation of the phases of the moon printed in silver ink, with a grid overprinted in a clear gloss showing the months and days of the year. Printed on 100lb French Nightshift Blue paper using a Vandercook SP20 letterpress, the calendar measures 9.5×22″.” Etsy – of course.
