Mix a little elk leather with some tape strapping and you get these vintage style Levi’s suspenders. Now, not all suspenders are made equal as we have discovered from our friends at Billykirk, but these do catch the eye. Elk is not your everyday leather, which is probably why you’ll only find this pair via the Japan Levi’s store. A pity.

Levi’s decided on working with Damien Hirst a while back, seeing it as a natural evolution from their use of Andy Warhol’s work on some of their pieces. This shirt is one of the products of the resulting collaboration and it’s got the main ingredients that make a graphic print tee great – an eye catching print that’s big enough to be seen from a distance. Take note Supreme. Get it from Browns.

A fine example of a piece of Levi’s workwear that needs to be available in the U.S.A. The images speak for themselves but just in case this is fine finished workwear from Levis Japan, with classic buttons, corduroy collar and a heavy duck fabric outer. It comes in the one expected shade of brown. Call Levi’s and get this thing back over here. Oh Wait. Levis’ USA does indeed have a hunting jacket online… from Engineered Garments – a Japanese collaboration. Coincidence?

I find this a crying shame. Why are only the best quality Levi’s sold outside of the the United States? Sure, I can pick up some LVC denim, but that is also far and few between amongst a handful of retailers domestically. Bring U.S.A. made Levi’s, such as this 505 Regular Fit "Made in the USA" model, available form the Levi’s Japan Online Store to me, here in New England. I just want the options that the European and Asian market get. Levi’s, please help. (via acl)

House Of Holland has mainly moved heads in recent years with their bold t-shirt designs. As part of their Spring/Summer 2009 collection, the label has heavily worked with Levi’s to offer an entire denim range. 

“Perhaps Henry predicted Beverley Hills 90210’s comeback (a spinoff will be airing in America in November) as he has used the show and American youth as the inspiration for the six designs he has created for Levi’s 501. He has retained all the original qualities of this iconic jeans style first created in 1873 by Levi Strauss and Jacob Davis; in a light blue denim, straight legged with a button fly and five pockets. Three of the styles are printed and three are laser-cut which feature polka dots and flower prints showing up on the inside of the jeans. It will also be the earliest opportunity to buy into S/S 09 style as these jeans will be available from the men’s ‘Superbrands’ floor in Selfridges on the 18th September, one day after the show.” Via Dazed Digital.

Levi’s Vintage is on a tear right now. Taking advantage of what many consider to be their own heritage, they have begun a re-introduction of their classic wears. This coat is no exception. "Levi’s Vintage 1920’s mackinaw wool coat in dark green check. An exact replica of a rancher coat Levi’s were producing in 1912…Thigh length, 3 button double breasted with belt and high fastening neck" and more. Available at Oi Polloi.

Its been some time since Levis offered the slim boot cut 507 model to the masses but that looks to have changed. Though some sites have mentioned its availability is limited only to the EU, the levisstore.com is showing it available now for US buyers as well. The 507 is available in 3 washes for 68$US. A pretty amazing pair of Levis turned up on Ebay last week. The pair of vintage “Big E” denim are not only dated back to around the late 1940’s but their a size W34 L75 – Long! From the auction description, “The leather not paper patch reads: Lot 501SXX  W34  L75… The best I can recall my dad saying was these were made special for someone that wore stilts and walked around, I’m not sure if it was the L.Aco.fair or the World fair and are from the late 40s or eairly 50s. I’m 49yrs. old now so it has been some time and I had forgot all about them till my dad past away. I’ve been keeping up on old LEVI’S for a few years now and have never seen or heard of another like these.” The auction looks to have ended with zero bids but I would not be surprised if these ended up in an archive in San Francisco any day now. A bit odd but well worth a view after the jump.

Last week we reported about the launch of the Warhol Factory x Levi’s x Damien Hirst collection at Fred Segal. Today we present you the collectors book that is being released along with the line.

The book presents the process of the creation of the collection, as well as all the people involved. The limited edition book comes hard bound in black denim, wrapped in a plexy glass and metal display box. The fashion photographs done by Beau Roulette feature Vincent Gallo and aside from the collection pictures, they also added an interview with Damien Hirst and lots more background information. The collection explores the “Death” theme, as that is a theme both artists are familiar with and that is also the main topic of the book.

The book is now on sale via DHW Books. You can order it with the box for 300 USD or without for 200 USD.
