selectism - Unpacking My Library: Architects and Their Books

Unpacking My Library Unpacking My Library: Architects and Their Books provides an intimate look at the personal libraries of twelve of the world’s leading architects, alongside conversations about the significance of books to their careers and lives.” Through photographs of workspaces and bookcases (which we all love, right?) we get a glimpse of the architects lifestyle, personality, and intellectual leaning. Some of the architects included are Henry Cobb, Peter Eisenman, and Michael Graves. Each subject also provides a top ten of influential titles.

Eisenman’s list features writing from Rem Koolhaas and James Joyce.

The book is edited by Jo Steffens, features an essay by Walter Benjamin, and is published by Yale University Press.

seattlecentrallibrary front Seattle Central Library

The Seattle Central Library is designed to provide space for books and programming. Designed by OMA + LMN architects, the building is divided into specific spaces for specific duties. The attempt is to keep the flow of information moving and the structure vibrant. Arch Daily has a strong piece on the library, well worth checking.
