Selectism - loake-valet-box-01

If you’re a bit Rex Ryan-esque about your footwear, you could do a lot worse than this valet box. Valet boxes are a sure sign that you’re a certified shoe lover, so why not make that leap. Now’s not the time to be pretending that it’s just a fling. (Edwards)

Loake ‘Stamford’ Derby

Selectism - loake-derby-01

While rubber soles are usually mocked as the ugly sister of footwear soles, they do have their place. Take these Loake’s for example. They look classy as ever from the top, yet have all the ruggedness to deal with rain and – if you’re feeling brave – a little snow. The £170 price tag isn’t too hard to swallow either. (Herring)

Loake Camden Desert Boots

selectism - loake-camden-desert-boot

After yesterdays Albam related spice/race kerfuffle we thought we’d make more jokes to see if anyone’s stupid enough to call us racist, calm things down with a pair of desert boots. You can’t go wrong with sand boots and at £135, these are among the cheapest made in England desert boots you can find. We still love our Clarks, but if you want that good – some might say smug – feeling that comes from buying something made in England, you’ll have to spend a bit more. It’s worth it, honest. Loake ‘Banks’ Brogue Boot

22 July 2009, 13.30 | Posted in Shoes | 1 comment »

selectism - loake-banks-brogue-boot-01

File this under ‘I’ll wear it later’. We wouldn’t blame you if you thought ‘why the hell are you guys posting up boots now?’ It is the middle of July after all. But we ask that you think ahead. A wise man once said that ‘planning your wardrobe months in advance never a dull man makes’. At least, that’s how we think the saying went.

We’ve got a thing for brogue boots at the moment and we’re especially partial to ones that look like they’ll hold up in rainy weather. These Loake ‘Banks’ boots come in an antique leather – similar to what Our Legacy used for their AW09 footwear line. The price is also affordable, coming at £135, and seeing as the site isn’t overrun with cool kids – although it will be soon – they’ve got plenty of sizes left. (Edwards of Manchester)

Take a gander at the detailed shots after the jump.

Loake Trapper Desert Boot

loake trapper boot Loake Trapper Desert Boot

With all the heritage shoe hype going to Grenson, Church’s and Trickers, it’s easy to forget that Loake have just as much heritage as the aforementioned brands. These suede desert boots have a nice distressed look about them, which means they just might be able to withstand a random downpour. We wouldn’t risk it though. Get this from The Three Threads.
