A few looks from The Duffer of St George for Spring/Summer 2012. The more affordable end of sports influenced casual, the usual suspects are all present with Duffer taking British and American classics (just as they’ve always done) adding a slimmer cut to bring them up to date. Expect varsity style jackets, bright rugby shirts, lightweight parkas and P.E friendly sweats.

A Kind of Guise – Spring/Summer 2012 Looks

12 March 2012, 16.00 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

AKindOfGuise SS12 10 540x357 A Kind of Guise Spring/Summer 2012 Looks

Hit the website of Munich’s A Kind of Guise and the first thing you’ll see are some well dressed guys doing magic tricks. Good start. We’ve covered these guys a few times, they were part of our PROJECT 10 last year in fact, now we return to take a look at their Spring Summer 2012 lookbook. Having spied the collection at Capsule, we’d already made noises towards being impressed. Theses images have done little to change our initial impressions, those speckled shirts still top of our list in a line up full of other well put together pieces. (OEN).

Uniforms for the Dedicated – Spring/Summer 2012 – Looks

08 March 2012, 15.00 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

UFTD SS12 05 Uniforms for the Dedicated Spring/Summer 2012 Looks

Uniforms for the Dedicated do that relaxed thing for Spring/Summer 2012. A label we’ve been following for a while, this collection is a series of loose jersey and cotton layers of various proportions. We like the shrunken blazer in the image above, this label really does do something special with this particular piece of clothing season to season. Colours are washed out blues, browns and shots of white. Shorts appear in a selection of lengths and the grandad shirt pops up in stripes and block colours. Easy. More at Coggles.

Brutus Trimfit – Spring/Summer 2012 Looks

07 March 2012, 14.00 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

Brutus-ss2012-02

Returning to Brutus Trimfit for Spring/Summer 2012. More check shirt action from one of those British youth culture brands of old (mods, sudedheads and the like) hoping to find an audience in today’s market. A selection for the guys and the girls, we’re told “keen to stay as true to the original vision of the brand we returned to the original manufacturer in Hong Kong to recreate the Brutus ‘Trimfit’ from 1966 and to ensure that every detail matches the original.” So, that includes a button down ‘rolled collar’ which appears on the larger side, 1 breast pocket and slightly darted for a slimmer look. The images present them worn fitted and loose so take your choice. More at the site.

Lacoste L!VE – Spring/Summer 2012 Looks

02 March 2012, 15.00 | Posted in Fashion | 1 comment »

Lacoste-SS12-L!VE-00

Lacoste L!VE is a kind of enthusiastic, trampoline owning, scamp of a younger brother to the mainline. We’re told 2 Lacoste products are sold worldwide every second, unsurprising when you realise how many products bare the crocodile stamp, from home-wares to fragrance. This Spring/Summer 2012 collection is said to be heavily influenced by 90’s things, American things and things related to Jacques Cousteau. What this amounts to is slim, colourful garments aimed towards a younger audience with print polos and oversized logos thrown into the mix.

One Nine Zero Six – Autumn/Winter 2012 Looks

02 March 2012, 13.00 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

1906 AW2012 00 One Nine Zero Six Autumn/Winter 2012 Looks

Moody schoolboy situations from One Nine Zero Six by Gymphlex. A label who have appeared on these pages many times, Autumn/Winter 2012 is as straightforward as its predecessors. Contrast sleeve shirting , simple parkas and macs, a monster of a rollneck and a couple of smart blazers. Navy leads the way, closely followed by burgundy – knee high socks optional.

Gymphlex ensure the textiles are solid. They’ve dressed posh schoolboys, sporting pros, military men and provided fabrics to classic Brit labels such as Barbour and Burberry. One Nine Zero Six is a mish-mash of all these traditions with a substantial dose of modern thrown in for good measure. Contemporary Standard have the full story.

Percival Spring/Summer 2012 – Looks

29 February 2012, 12.00 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

Percival SS121 Percival Spring/Summer 2012 Looks

Percival presents styles for Spring/Summer 2012. The British brand keep their homemade goods simple with a few playful touches here and there. The lookbook, shot on Ridley Road Market (London’s foremost location for unusual vegetables and knock-off goods) features a British Brisbane twill and Scottish beeswaxed cotton donkey jacket and a bright reversible rain mac;  these guys know how cruel a British summer can be.

The pool print t-shirt is a throwback to days spent at the Portsmouth Lido, while the emphasis on Navy represents days spent in school uniform. Percival designer Chris Gove explains “The Spring / Summer 2012 collection is based on obligatory tasks we had to undertake as youths during the summer”.

Watch | Common People Autumn/Winter 2012

21 February 2012, 16.00 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »
http://www.vimeo.com/36595587

Common People are a brand we’ll be following up on in later posts, but to introduce we start off with their Autumn/Winter 2012 video. Creative director Kestin Hare worked as Head of Design at Nigel Cabourn for 4 years and you’ll see some of those influences throughout the collection. Another dedicated vintage head, he has picked up an impressive collection from around the world, the details of which underpin this first offering. “Inspired by the film There Will Be Blood and his archive of vintage American workwear pieces, the collection has been given an all British, almost dandy-esque treatment.”  Stay tuned for more on the Brit label.
